Oh and I'd also be asking for a second opinion. Vets always push the food in the surgery for the kickback so find that practice really distasteful.

Most definitely this ^^. Vet said she had raised something - or - other which would indicate liver damage. Now this was a dog who was in complete full health ....So what do we do I said? Have this test for £200! oh I said and what will we do if it confirms she has liver damage? Give her Hill's food. So there is nothing else you can do for her? No. Cue time on line researching foods with a similar make up as Hill's and doggie continued to live for a VERY long time without the test.
