I have a really embarrassing confession to make, I actually quite like TS and find myself singing along to the radio on a regular basis. She's catchy

We don't care who you like! Just as long as you praise the weather gods and make sacrifices, you're alright with us ;)

You actually made me laugh at the eastenders thing!!

I seem to recall it being mentioned on a documentary on electricity production / demand etc. If you didn't believe the Eastenders thing then this is going to sound like a right whopper but here goes - it used to be the case (and possibly still is) that in times of sudden unexpected surges in the UK we actually switch on a supply from France to meet this demand. There are electricity cables stretching across the English Channel to cater for this. Anyway, I'm even boring myself on the subject now so had better stop.

Luckily the only thing I've seen is a thread on FB where we all agree that we don't give a fuck.

It's the bizarrest thing. Perfectly normal, generally liberal leaning folk reacting like it's the end of the world because their favourite telly programme isn't on. People comparing it to Je Suis Charlie. The most ridiculous lack of perspective I think I've ever witnessed. It's genuinely odd in the same way the Headliners thread is.

I find it fascinating. They even have a telly on in the control centre so they can tell exactly when it finishes, in case it's early or late.

Having to watch the telly at the controls of a power distribution centre - Homer Simpson'esque when you think about it.That apart, I'm completely with you on the fascinated angle. I suppose you know about the electrical pylon engineers that work on live cables in suits similar to chain mail? Can you imagine being the first one to put one of those suits on and climbing up to the overhead power lines and checking the theory that the suits and the system devised would work, or not?
