I also employ the euphemism "problematic", when what I really mean is "bullshit"

Reminds me of that preferred version of workplace swearing. "You are my manager, and I respect you." is the sanitised version for appraisals.

Good grief - down voted for this by an odd non believer (i.e. no sense of humour) lurker!!!!!

If this annoys you so much young man then prey tell - why come and read this thread? Most odd

Anyway Jeffie - what do you reckon to the targets?

How do you know who's voted? I'm not normally fussed, but once or twice I've been downvoted on posts where I can't see the issue anyone could have, and I've wondered. I'm on an iPhone, and even if I go into the full version, I can't seem to see who's voted.

You can't see on a phone (or the mobile version), but you should be able to click on the vote to see the person once you've logged in, but some had issues with this earlier like Jeffie and Zoo Music Girl.

Yes sometimes even now it doesn't show who voted, even on the full desktop version on Chrome which seems to be the only browser that works properly for me on here.

IE11 is pants, even on the version I have at home.

I'm fairly sure you need to be a Gold member. It's worth it to speed the site up, as it gets rid of the ads.

It's weird, I've anecdotally heard of more problems with IE11 than IE9 or 10, even though it's supposed to be better. I know a lot of issues are caused by sites trying to render the 'IE way' when they detect IE is running, which breaks with the more standards compliant, newer versions of IE.

Be interesting to see how their new browser performs, as it reports itself as pretty much anything BUT IE.

S2H, on my standard IE11 install I can't even copy urls from YouTube, in fact I can't cut and paste anything.

I can quote though, which is a step up from this work desktop!

Books.

What book are you currently reading (if of course you read books)?

I'm on with the Divergent trilogy by Veronica Roth. Ripping post-apocalyptic yarn.

Edit:

Plus Chavs by Owen Jones and Extreme Rambling by Mark Thomas for pre-apocalyptic realism..

Just finished Thirteen Steps Down, by Ruth Rendall. Started The Andrew Kerr book, so will get stuck into that (thanks Matt)

Ah Matty, I know why the downvote.

Sime is a bit of a sc!£nt!st.

He'll be waiting for the Weather to start.....

I downvoted because I chose too as I found the idea of people wanting to work out how long it will be before such and such a number of pages is reached a bit odd, like it's the only reason for posts, to get a high page count. And so showed that with the good old downvote button. A button we are all free to use to express a 'mark' on a post. I upvote too so it's not like I am a sociopath on a downvoting mission! To be honest I do not normally come into this thread as whenever I have I have personally found it to be a bit cultish and have noticed a tendency sometimes for posters here to bitch about other threads like the headliner one. I've noticed others bitch about this thread too and I find it all, from all sides, rather silly and immature to be honest. But that's my issue! I won't come here again. I'll just leave you all to your own business.

I do feel uncomfortable with being 'searched' for. I find that quite creepy to be honest. I have been down voted before for what to me are quite innocent posts but in the end, unless it is personally targeted downvoting which could be taken as bullying, I think it's best just to take it and move on.

I am not sure what a sc!£nt!st is but if it's scientist then I wish I was! Maybe it refers to the SFR SFC in my signature. I make no apologies for that. I like a bit of cloud and rain at Glastonbury and so wanted to mention it just like others say they don't like rain.

Anyway, enough waffling from me. I hope you all have a good afternoon.

Cheers,

Sime

I'm currently reading 'The Red House' by Mark Haddon. Bought it a while back, having really enjoyed 'Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time', but only just got round to it. Still undecided whether I like it, but I'll keep going.
