I can still see vividly in my memory the 'first sitings' of other festivals, and recall only too clearly the sheer exhilaration of those unrepeatable moments. That anticipation is amplified manyfold for this summer...

You never forget your first time, but you only get one of them. Live it fully.

Ben

Just you wait!

You're right, but you have no idea yet how right!

Jammy bugger!

Dudes and dudettes, whos camped at Dairy or Bushey. Getting the 10.30am bus from Bristol on the Wednesday (woohoo getting there on Wednesday this year instead of Thursday afternoon)

So is it just long drops there or are there flushers or compost toilets? Long drops are grand during the day but in case of precipitation its good to have a bit of shelter to set you up for the day and give the oul dents a good brushing. Then onwards for fun.

Also is it Dairy that fills quicker? Camped at Michaels Mead last year and didn't watch any headliners so spent most of the time trekking over the other side of the site to Flagtopia and Avalon. Makes sense to camp the other side near the railway tracks.

Ben I'm chuffed for you getting in early. The awe of seeing the site for the first time is exhilarating. I went first time in 2010 and my heart swelled. Been every year since and always stop en route to the camp to take it all in. The weather gods must've loved us in 2010 cos it was 33degrees every day.

Mr G I'm sad for you though. I went on the bus last year and didn't arrive til 2pm. I was sorely disappointed. Luckily I had friends that put my tent up.

Gonna investigate hot chip. Listened to a few tracks and they sound good.

Slodge congrats on not giving in to temptation!!

Our group always camps near Michaels mead yet we never go to silver Hayes/beat hotel/pyramid. I've just whatsapp'd the glasto group and asked them if we should relocate. Getting varying opinions. Most seem to love the tree!!! It's a hell of a hike from SE Corner and stone circle tho!

Jeffie is Dairy! I think it's just long drops over "our" way, I'm pennards.

Come to the dark side! :)

Nah, Pennards just seems like hard work and wouldn't be there in time to get a spot anyway. Heard there were composting toilets on one of the sites just can't remember where. Just can't face the smell of the long drops first thing and need to ease myself into the day. Once i've had me coffee and brushed me teeth I'm grand.

The flushers were a god send last year when I got caught in the worst downpour and had left my waterproofs back at the tent cos I was just nipping to the loo.

We camped right by a tree in Michaels Mead as well last year and yes it is a trek to the other side. Didn't do the Beat hotel till we were leaving on the Monday morning and had the most overpriced and shit brekkie ever. They had run out of sauces and half the ingredients but charged the same. Was devo'd cos was then stuck on a bus back to scouseland for nearly 8 hours.

I have never had breakfast there. I prefer to go for a walk and find something different. That journey home is soul destroying.

Evening Thurlow. I had a full of busy day! Mate had a car accident this morning so spent time helping him. Been to go outdoors and bought a hi gear kalahari 10 with porch, carpet and footprint, went to wedding venue for final questions (most certainly not my wedding)! And now chilling with jack Daniels.

So, everyone. I can barely contain my excitement!

I've just logged onto my SeeCoaches booking and...they've put me on the very first coach from Birmingham - 0545h!!!

So, just as I had hoped (and the lovely people at See Coaches had promised they would try to help me with...no really!), I will get to spend the maximum amount of time at my first ever GF.

Mrs Ben and some people I talk to have never understood why the idea of going to a festival from anything other than the very beginning would be a massive disappointment to me. I was a bit cross last year when my festival pal was a bit crap meaning we only got to Green Man at about 5pm on the Thursday...gates opened at 1000h!! I was sat outside the train station in Malvern for 2 hours waiting...I knew when he was arriving, but I was determined to leave home and begin my 'festival' at the earliest possible point!

Knowing that I will get all of Wednesday inside the gates of GF has made me more excited than a 5 year old on Christmas Eve....

Think ive almost decided im setting off straight after work on tuesday (though not booked yet). Arrive into birmingham just after 12 and get a coach out of birmingham around 2pm arriving at the site 5:30ish and waiting in the queue for gates to open :)

Heard a rumor jack daniels are sponsoring one of the stages at kendal calling one day this year so hopefully they will be some free samples flowing at that stage

Hope your mates ok too :)

The lot im socialising with are heading to bushy so im going to pitch up in there i think.....unless i get lost walking through the gate and end up following the masses

I still like the look of Dairy.

Pennards sounds fun, but it does feel as if it gets full v v quick. Dairy is so brilliantly placed for me - The Park will likely be my most important stage, and I feel a spiritual bond with the Glade...! Plus, SE corner is pretty accessible/get backable from too!

Now I know how early I might get there I have SO much more stuff to think about!!

Night, everyone. Horrid day and on-call at work yesterday leaves me with bed calling...see you all tomorrow

my last two Glastos i was camped outside the fence, and i really didn't mind the walk. you're always a long walk from somewhere there. this year i'm back inside the fence but i'm pretty easy about where to camp. i stayed in Pennards once but it was too crammed for my liking. this also means i'm in no rush to get to the site, so i'm aiming for a queue-lite mid/late afternoon on wednesday.

that's the plan today, anyway.
