...this is my 1000th post on festivals.

And I wanted to post it on here, as I have enjoyed getting to know you guys a bit in the short time I've been on the team.

You're a lovely lot, and make me feel very welcome. It is a pleasure to dispense medical advice, such as I can, and to tease you with the news of my impending TV stardom. A mate of mine on Saturday night said, deadly serious, that I really did need a producer to 'discover' me and turn me into the fully fledged media whore that is my destiny! Very sweet of him.

Anyway, here's to the next 1000 posts, spent on NFR NFC and nearby, as you share the journey towards my very first Glastonbury (sorry, jeffie!).

It'll be fun, gang...

sorry about the job thurlow but at least they let you know fairly quickly and you'll get something better.

The headliners thread has lost the plot.

I can't look at the headliners thread, I still long for the days when you found out who's laying about 2 weeks before, much less stressful x

Really no imposition, Hats

Now, did we not have a clear understanding about no crackers in the night?!!!

OK, doctorly admonishing aside...

Paracetamol and ibuprofen are good for two things only - pain and fever reduction. If she has no significant fever, and is not in pain, then they will not help! They make you feel better because you are doing something, but they will not help ToddlerHats®

If you are going to use them (because they are clinically indicated/justified!) then does wise, assuming she is a 'normal' two-year old size, you could give her 10ml of ibuprofen up to three times a day, and 7.5ml of paracetamol (120mg/5ml strength - standard 'baby' Calpol) up to four times per day. Ibuprofen has a pretty low profile of irritating the stomach. On balance, if paracetamol does the job, I'd use that first in a vomiting illness provided there was fever and/or pain to treat!!!

Apols for banging the drum too much, but those kind of meds, whilst incredibly useful, are grossly 'misused' by parents (understandably) desperate to help their little ones feel better!

Let me know how we're doing, and remember not to push that tummy too hard, too fast...

I didn't give her anything Doc, I was asleep, blame Mrs 2Hats! Apparently she was asking for food repeatedly and it had been more than the 6 hours since last vom when she went to bed, so seemed like it would have been ok. I know what you mean about the Calpol, there is definitely a parental placebo aspect where we give Calpol to a child who has just woken up and feel justified when they perk up later, even though it's probably just because they've woken up.

Having said that, she's normally 36.something, but was 38.2 last night, so her temperature was elevated. She also seems to be permanently teething and still isn't that good at telling us how she feels. No puking today, but not a lot of eating either. Mainly on the water.

I'm keen to know who's playing, but the arrival of Mr. multiple personalities, has really put me off the headliner thread. Think I'll just wait for the tweet or Facebook update when it is announced, rather than read any more of his nonsense.

So, 38.2ºC constitutes a fever, and so if she's feeling crappy, a dose or two of paracetamol is entirely reasonable and will make her feel better. Teething can make a her cranky, and her mouth a bit sore, but will not (contrary to popular belief) give her a raised temperature.

Very pleased no more vomming today! Go v v light on anything solid, give her as little as poss overnight (are you listening Mrs Hats?!), and you'll likely have pretty much cracked it. As said, paracetamol dose for her, should she need it, would be 7.5ml (180mg, assuming a weight of 12kg, which is typical for a two-year old), and she can have this up to 4x in 24h.

Glad she's on the mend.

How long have you been going, Babs?

Not that long in the scale of things Lucy, first time was in 97. Last time was in 2007 and was a tough one. My dad was very ill and by the Saturday I just wanted to go home. He died 2 weeks later and my mum very soon after that (broken heart syndrome). Despite attempts at every sale and resale by me and a number of others I haven't managed to get a ticket again until now. I've approached this with a sense that I'd get a ticket again when the time is right and this is it. I can't wait :) :)
