I'm battling through a knee injury at the moment so trying to fool my body into thinking it has all the time in the world to heal, even thought it doesn't! I've finally admitted defeat today though, and to appease the Gods I got myself a lovely red r**n poncho.

I think that counts for a downer in real life!! Worrying when in pain and you must walk miles and miles. My back and knees are currently suffering so I sorta know how you feel. I don't ever want to be too old to enjoy glasto. x

Is it true that the nomenclature 'coccyx' is related to a cuckoo 'cos of it's shape? My mate - the almighty tit - broke his at the weekend on a water slide. It's summat to do with the ('beak / 'neck'???) shape of the bone isn't it?

 

And isn't a Roadrunner a cuckoo? So your tailbone is named after that thing Wile E Coyote used to chase?

also, also, is it true the coccyx is one of the hardest bones in the body? If true I don't get this. If it's really small and curved, how can it be so tough?I thought the hardness of bones was derived from their tubular structure...but can curved tubes be as hard / tough? Surely not due to how forces and stresses are sustained in a straight but tubular structure.

 

Or is it just a dense bone related to foetal development or related to a throwback to our early ancestors?
