Other Stage Headliners 2015

It's a massive shame I wasn't born about 20 years earlier than I was. I'd have loved to have seen Soundgarden on their Superunknown tour and Pearl Jam touring Ten, let alone to see Nirvana.

i could've kicked myself for not going to the Black Sabbath / Soundgarden / Faith No More show a couple of months back. Soundgarden played Superunknown in full. god i love that album

JP headline i reckon. don't think they're big enough / would be appreciated subbing Other (although if what i've heard is correct Perry threw a hissy fit at playing a tent, hence why they pulled out of Reading/Leeds, but that may have been bollocks)

He lost his voice and I believe that because he wrote a song about it. Although he could have shot his voice screaming about having to play a tent.

I don't think JP Headline would be a suitable slot for Jane's Addiction. Seems like a too modern, too indie place for them to be considering their formation in 1985.

I'm thinking Other sub, although you'd feel that they'd need to be in the dark for their 'voodoo' and lights! Um I think popularity wise Other Sub would seem most appropriate; although (in my dream world) they'd sub the Pyramid on a rocky day. Sub a Pearl Jam-esque band.

I don't reckon it matters. Echo and the Bunnymen, Spiritualized and Ash have headlined it in recent times and will have formed around then.

True dat with me. Looked bloody marvelous (I have a feeling I was doing something quite important that weekend though) TBH I can see Soundgarden lasting for a while more, and I hope they rest Chris Cornell's voice for a while so he can regain his quite mesmerizing voice. I think that now they should tour albums frequently though as it has come to that stage.

yeah i had a feeling both FNM and Soundgarden's reception wouldn't be the greatest. the lineup was the thing of dreams but i imagine, as with most gigs, people were only arsed about the main act

Bit of a tough one to place but does anybody think Weezer could pull it off? If not in the actual headlining position, then potentially taking a Smashing Pumpkins/Pixies style sub slot?

Of course my reasoning for considering them an act that would be billed quite highly could be to do with the fact that that's simply been the case at their last two UK festival appearances, neither of which were Glastonbury. And also that they were rather brilliant on both of those occasions.

Yeah, I think they could sub. Bloody fantastic at Reading a few years back and they've surely got enough hits to play that high. Just checking out their recent set lists, something like this would be a dream for me:

doubt they'd do Blue in full at a festival, but they seem to play a good chunk of it in their regular sets anyway. would absolutely love them to be there. saw them at Leeds and they were better than i could've hoped for. act of the festival for me. just as long as they play at least one song from Pinkerton!

not big enough to headline, but wouldn't be surprised to see him get a sizeable slot on Other

also with these heavier acts, you'd think they'd have been booked in their heyday (which Pixies and Pumpkins were) so it's probably unlikely that they'd be booked now

A good point but it might be that cause of their size at the time, they wern't booked but now might be willing to acept a lower slot/money than they would have got elsewhere?

Would more than pull it off, but I don't think sadly they would get the chance.

Would love them to be there though, I really quite like their new song Back to The Shack (weirdly released ages ago in July, but XFM have only just started playing it...almost constantly or I just noticed it )

I think G will have another huge DJ producer headline one evening again... step in Calvin Harris.

Would love to see Sub Focus back but unsuitable during the day but not big enough to get a night slot on Other stage.

Just got tickets for Underworld at the Albert Hall, doing Dubnobasswithmyheadman.

Seeing as they're playing dates in the spring, got to make them quite likely for festivals. If so, a nailed-on Other Stage headliner?

Though he's been out for some time, I reckon if Jake Bugg can be thought of as a headliner then Jamie T could. I have been listening to his new album the last couple of days and it's really good imo . Together with the first I now thing he could really put on a good set. He was great in 2010 in the JP. Probably be a support to the headliner on one of the days though.
