someone who's musical tastes I trust said the latest alt-j album is really good. Is it time for me to cut him out of my life then?

It's a weird one. This has been happening a lot with Alt-J. Maybe I'm not listening closely enough, but they certainly haven't clicked with me yet.

For those of you that *do* like Alt-J, are their albums growers, or did you like them straight away?

Back when the first album came out (2012??) and they were getting radio play I got into the single, then got their album and i liked it straight away. This new one's taking me a few more listens though. I like it... but nowhere near as much as I liked their first, which I listened to for most of that summer.

The weekend they played the Other stage they also played a 'secret' set at William's Green on the Thursday evening, which was fantastic.

I saw an interview with Alt-J jut after the 2013 festival where they said they were originally going to be on the pyramid but they went for the other in the end because it was the 'safer' option so I thought it would be pyramid next year. If that info is true I suppose it will be a better slot for them.

They don't really do anything for me, but they strike me as a band that would put on a much better show in the dark

After Saturday's incredible performance I'd love Underworld doing dubnobasswithmyheadman but not sure if they're big enough for Other these days. Maybe Glade/ JP?

That would be perfect at the Glade - wow..

Glade would be amazing, but I reckon that, while maybe not big enough outside the fence, they would be popular enough with a Glasto crowd to head Other.

Hmmm, tough call I reckon. It's over half a lifetime ago now since they were 'big', and their popularity hasn't held up anything like as well as some other acts.

And while it's a different crowd, at V festival over 10 years ago when they headlined the 2nd stage they had a very tiny crowd of not even a hundred.

I reckon they'd do OK-ish as Other headliner if they were up against a 'young' Pyramid headliner, but I reckon they'd do dreadfully against the likes of FM.

Il forever wish for Tool/PJ Harvey co-headline/headline-sub in the depth of glastonbury darkness on Saturday night

Is there a reason pj hasn't played for so long? She was wonderful last time and I would have thought the festival would be keen to promote female artists. She could and should easily headline the other stage.

Yes woffy! Though probably too soon for lykke :(

Really?

Not since 2004...but too soon?

Is she that enigmatic? 3 albums in 10 years? Bit of acting thrown in.

(I kinda like that)

I'm a new convert to Lykke, tbh.

I found the sniffy, oh-do-we-really-need-to-hear-a-whole-album-of-breakup-heartbreak-songs-from-her? reviews the most appealing sell ever.

My whatever day i don't care ideal line up on the Other is:

PJ Harvey

Lykke Li

Jason Lytle

Though I'd love to see PJ Harvey headline the Other, I dunno if she's still big enough. Mind you I find myself feeling the same way about tonnes of suggestions on this thread and someone has to headline it.

She's on a similar level to bjork I'd say, and she headlined the other (i may be way off here). That England album was pretty well received too. I'm convinced she'd get a flaming lips sized crowd at least.

Down by the water is epic
