Other Stage Headliners 2015

I really enjoyed hot chip before the flaming lips the other year, I didn't know anything about them beforehand either. What a wondrous night at the festival that was.

Have got them on now. They have some really witty, fun and heart warming tunes. There is some needless twoddle but managing to produce say 7 fantastic tunes per album is pretty good, especially when they manage to do it any a way that is really individual to themselves.

I would love them to be at Glasto this year. Supporting Chems or New Order would go down a treat.

Why did you not watch them on your own?

It was Friday when the flaming lips were on and I'd had only a couple of hours sleep in total tuesday, wed and Thursday. Things had started to get pretty wobbly. The thought of being on my own all night, I couldnt be bothered with.

It's probably my fault....

But I'm blaming them. They told me tge Gorillaz would be good.

Why haven't you dumped that set of mates for others with a decent taste in music?

I faced a similar situation at V a few years a go. It was either watch Primal Scream do Screamadelica all the way through on my own, or go watch someone shit in one of the tents with my mates.

I would never have forgiven myself if I had missed Primal Scream.

Had a similar scenario at TITP all my muppet friends wanting to go and watch a certain Swedish dance trio instead of Screamadelica in full, what a wonderous show it was

I just read this as you having a choice between watching Primal Scream or watching someone taking a shit in someones tent with your mates :)

haha thankfully no. It may have been Calvin Harris djing in the tent or Primal Scream. To be fair the one time I went to a Calvin Harris doo, I really enjoyed myself. No chance I was missing the Scream though, even though it meant I had to watch them on my own.

Never understand people who won't watch bands on their own. Most of mates are like this, they could really love a band but the rest of us don't and they skip them to watch something they don't like just to be in the group.

I love being with my friends at gigs and festivals but i also love going on my own, sometimes you meet people and make new friends, i have done a few times. Plus it's nice not having to do stuff because the will of the group dictates it, on your own you can do what ever you want.

To be honest, I am not normally like that. I have watched plenty, but at the time, my head didn't fancy a full night on my own. Really, I needed a sleep.

(I probably could have got one at the gorillaz)

I watch stuff on my own at least 60% of the time as within out little group we have varying tastes in music, though it's good to share the experience with you friends and family if I really was dead set on seeing a performance I wouldn't be swayed by peer pressure.

Yeh I prefer going to gigs on my own if it's a band I love. Means you can studiously watch the band without anyone interrupting and whining about going to the bar etc.

Sadly it's a rare occurrence.

I suppose you cant beat a shared experience with your mates at a festival though.

I watched all but one act at Glastonbury on my own last year as I have completely different taste to others in my (very small) group. Absolutely fine with that but do think it would be good to share the experience at times.

Likely to be the same this year as just me and a friend going.

This, completely, russy.

I'm going to Glastonbury on my own, without my usual gig/festival buddy. Easily the very best festival experiences I have had were with him, but I'm OK on my own as I'd rather that than not go at all etc. I'm going to work hard both pre- and at the festival to find as many people as I can with whom to try to share experiences. I just hope I don't p*ss them off!

A good few people on the 'procrastination' game thread seem to mentioning Biffy Clyro, I think they would make a brilliant headliner for the other

Nah they're too big for that, they headlined IOW, T and Reading in the last two years. I think they'll headline in 2016, not really any other big festivals for them to do again (Download maybe?) and they'll have a new album out by then.
