Other Stage Headliners 2015

Well quite. Of course it's not as simplistic as a basic comparison of album sales but if it were then then two of the Other Stage subs in 2014 were bigger than two of the Pyramid subs. In terms of things that can be measured, Jamie T isn't comparable with Paolo Nutini or Ellie Goulding at all, in any way, and never will be. Third down or staying as JP headliner for me.

Oh I know this, I guess I mean that in the past when an artist has some buzz about the album you see stuff in the press, favourable reviews, blanket NME coverage - and save for a small amount of buzz when he released his first song, the album (as far as I was aware anyway) was kind of released without too much fanfare - I was basing my pulling up trees and subsequent position on a line up on the fact that I didn't personally hear or see much about the return after a very breif flurry of coverage.

His latest track (and the subsequent single(s) ) from the album were all over Radio 1 though - on the A-List no less, I believe...

And I don't think the tour he did was overly extensive was it? And with the tickets selling out so fast I'd have thought there's a real desire for a lot of people to see him play.

You're comparing him to two much more mainstream artists, though. If Paolo Nutini and Neil Young both released albums tomorrow I'm sure Paolo's would sell more.

Permitting that Bjork, Alt J and The Chemical Brothers (maybe not in that order) are our other headliners, what's everyones opinion? I think they are much stronger than previous years... but I don't think i'd go and see either of them.

Strong, but not really to my tastes, maybe I'l go see the chems but if they are up against Foos or Taylor then i'l give them a miss :P

I would say Alt J and The Chemical Brothers seem pretty nailed on, i wouldn't be massively shocked if The Chemical Brothers didn't actually headline but they should

I would need some convincing that Bjork is actually going to play, she would be the ideal headliner but not certain she'll be there

i don't think both Bjork and the Chems will be there as they both did it in 2007. i know it's 8 years later but such repetition seems like something the festival would probably rather avoid - couldn't say which of the two i think is most likely to be there, mind (probably Chemical Brothers at this moment as they're at least touring around that time - although they've headlined Other like 4 times in the past ten years so they might want to give it a miss this time round)

I have a feeling the Vaccines are going to headliner the other stage. I'm no fan, but I am expecting it

But then would they have the Vaccines and Alt J in the same year?

I thought Vaccines were likely for other stage but I reckon they'l probably be on the pyramid.

It's a difficult one, they could be R&L exclusives and not be there at all!

I'd like the festival to take a punt for the other headliner. Eric Prydz vs Deadmau5 one night. They did it with Skrillex.

I can't see it, but I'd be happy.

i was reminded yesterday that the 'new brother' has produced directed several episodes of Dr Who.

edit: to correct my error. I've no idea why I put produced and not directed.

The lightshow man? I seem to remember reading that he had been doing the visuals for them for a while, but couldn't find out either way if he was new or not?

Yeah, Adam Smith. I know a little about him (I met him briefly years ago too), as he's a mate of my kid's uncle (who's also worked for the Chems).

Adam started off doing the Chems visuals with a mate of his, Noah (who I also met), under the name Vegetable Vision somewhen in the 90s. I know they were both still doing the visuals in 2000 when they headlined Glasto as my kid's cousins faces were in the visuals show.

Somewhere along the way since then it's become just Adam doing the visuals, from what I've googled recently.

Deadmau5 at R+L so it looks like he's doing more rocky festivals instead of the same dance festivals he does every year (he's been slagging off EDM recently so I he's trying to distance himself from it)

Could potentially be an Other Stage headliner? Would be a pretty unpopular one on here like but I'd be happy with it as an alternative to swifty
