Caught the end of the The 1975 as we were doing a pre-Dolly pitstop at La Grande Bouffe on the Sunday of last year.

I hadn't ever heard anything by The 1975 until I saw some of the coverage on TV last year, they were the most woeful act I saw on the BBC that weekend, and I saw some of Rudimental so the bar was already quite low.

I don't listen to the radio really so tend to miss out on bands I haven't actively sought out, I could have heard them but without knowing it was them I guess, but without wanting to sound like one of those people who says 'I couldn't name a song by them if I tried' I genuinely couldn't.

The thing is, I had read in places some good stuff about them, and heard people talking about them being the next big thing, so I actually tuned in on the off chance they would be alright - they were obviously laughably terrible.

i woke up on the Sunday of last year with the worst hangover i've ever had (thanks to the bag of red wine i'd been consuming the day before) and got dragged to see the 1975 in order to get a good space for Dolly. i don't think i can ever complain about a hangover again because that was the worst combination of awful hangover and shite place to be. just horrible

I also got dragged to see the 1975 to get a good spot for Dolly, but I guzzled down red wine during their set. Made for a much more tolerable experience than your way.

We got completely blindsided by them at the William's Green launch party. We were stood there, right down the front of a massive crowd, really excited for Metronomy to come on.The lights went down, crowd started cheering, but this bunch of dudes came on who bore no resemblance to Metronomy at all. I wondered who the fuck they were, then they started playing and it was awful. We tried to fight our way out, but the crowd was so deep and dense that the best we could do was get to the bar at the side of the tent and try to block out the assault with warm expensive cider. A security guard clearly saw we weren't into it, she leaned over and grinned "crap this, isn't it?", we agreed and explained it wasn't what we were expecting. She then went off for a bit, and came back to confirm that Metronomy were in fact the next band, and our suffering here was not completely in vain.
