Years & Years and Clean Bandit are both utterly appalling aren't they?

Years & Years definitely are, but I was taken to Clean Bandit's JPT performance last year ("well, they're a bit like Massive Attack, I suppose" she told me, then later confessed to not really knowing who Massive Attack are), and the only thing they're really guilty of is being completely boring.

Clean Bandit had their peak last summer imo. Yes she is very odd she was very cringeworthy on Buzzcocks.

I really hope that in overly commericalised 2015 an advert still has the power to destroyed a groups career. Come on lets have another Duffy/Coca Cola esque capitulation as they are shockingly bland

Guessing Couchy was talking about Wolf Alice?

Clean Bandit. Their awful advert just popped up on 4OD

Terribly, but catchy, except Clean Bandit who are just medicore at best.

I don't get how Alt-J could play other but not headline. Their last albums sales have surely moved them up more than just one slot. For me it's pyramid sub, other headliners or nothing

Alt-J's last album has sold less than their first one.

e: even less impressive, it only seems to have managed to go Gold 2 days ago.

It took a pretty much identical amount of time to go gold and charted higher. As their presence and profile grows over the summer I believe it will go platinum as quickly if not quicker than the first one. Anyway their crowds have definitely grown more than a one slot jump would suggest since their last album. So I wouldn't expect them to sub other, they're just too big for it in my eyes.

We heard a long time ago that they'd been offered Other headline but then last month somebody said they'd said they were playing but the festival are deciding what slot. I couldn't imagine them being dropped into a lower slot now. Perhaps the delay was to do with either playing opposite Prince or subbing Florence.

A lot of suggestions that Hot Chip will play the Other somewhere. I really think they'd go down a storm headlining West Holts though. I hope it happens.

I'd love this. It'll be my first Glastonbury, and I really like the idea of watching a WH headliner.

Hot Chip would be perfect for me - like a massive open air dance tent. You can already feel the communal happiness!

Would the vaccines sub the other stage

Should think so. There or maybe one below or more likely headlining John Peel.

nobody else find Alt-J dull as dishwater?! top of my "bands i passionately dislike" list, cant stand the voice and the music is just totally bland

I would imagine the majority think the same around here.

I've seen alt-J twice, once in the tent at Green Man, once at an Academy 2 (i.e. Not big venue, at all). Enjoyed them both times. Drummer is entertaining to watch and i don't mind Joe's voice - it's distinctive, in any case. How they would be on a big stage, i just don't know. They've got to try to nail 15000+ people at Latitude, and I'm not convinced they will. If they headline Other, i might see them, but it would be likely there'd be someone elsewhere that would be a bigger draw for me.

Other than Breezeblocks, which I adore, I struggle to find any emotion towards them at all. Wouldn't even notice if they disappeared.

As for Hot Chip, they are one of those bands that I sort of like, but not enough. I enjoyed their 2010 set a lot more than I thought I would, I was hammered to be fair, but with their releases since then I'm not so sure I'd like it so much. They're probably Other subs for life, I'm afraid to say.

It's funny, I never would have thought of Hot Chip as my kind of band. I love electronica/dance, but usually much more minimal/bleepy/less poppy. Then I bought tickets for the Birmingham warm up gig last month and they were brilliant. New album is really growing on me too. As said, if they were given a WH headline slot, I'd be thrilled.
