He was only on the poster as Frank Turner himself when he played 4th last time.

Only because it isn't really feasible to fit 'and the Sleeping Souls' on the poster without being a logo act. Unless you're saying the Sensational Space Shifters didn't play the Pyramid last year because it just said Robert Plant on the first poster?

Just Sumner and Morris left though now isn't it?

Do they still tour with new members?

Gillian Gilbert is there as well, so it is 3 of the original 4 members. They were fantastic at Jodrell Bank. They are the one band who I would love more than anyone to be there. Unfortunately I can not see it. Shame really as by all accounts the new album is nearly done and the new stuff they have played live sounds pretty good.

Frank Turner is extremely shite yeah. I've actually laughed out loud at how bad some of the songs I've heard on the radio are, I don't think I've done that for many other professional bands at all.

I would say I'm a massive Frank Turner fan since I first heard him 8 or 9 years ago, seeing him live around 15 times. He does however seem to have this unerring ability to pick out his most cringeworthy (and perhaps unutterably shite) songs and release them as singles.

i loved Love Ire and Song when it came out but heard the first few singles from the next album (Poetry of the Deed?) and immediately thought 'right, don't like him anymore' and haven't really listened since. not really my thing any more so i doubt i could be won back over but those singles were definitely shitters

Don't give up hope!

This would be excellent.

Only ever seen them once

Strange really as I have been pinning all my hopes on The Roses or Depeche Mode. When you think about it, with new material New Order should be more likely then than either the other two.

Would they have to headline? Could they not get an extended set subbing the Chems?

Chems

New Order

Hot Chip

Is this the new craze now, to put Hot Chip third down on the Other? I don't think that's right.

not too outrageous i don't think - haven't exactly risen up the ranks since they last played (although i'd Other sub seems more likely - but there just seems to be a huge amount of acts who are Other subs this year, so maybe JP headliner (or West Holts, i guess)

That's fair enough. Yep, Poetry of the Deed is my least favourite album, although it seems to get a lot of love on here. I stuck with him though as his previous two albums and EPs were my favourite things ever at the time.

His next one, England Keep My Bones was a bit more folky like Love, Ire and Song and is my personally favourite. There are often times when I'll be listening and my toes curl a little bit but I'm easily forgiving! He always delivers live too which is grand.

And for every bang average or outright bad song, there's something that can tug on your heartstrings. I'm hoping this is on the new album, although I know this was going to be the only time it got recorded:

Well, I agree with most of this, but it just doesn't seem right.

They should just put them on mid-afternoon Pyramid and I can have my dream of them playing Beach Party in the blazing sun.

don't they rely quite heavily on a light show etc? would find it weird seeing them in the middle of the day playing to a couldn't-give-a-fuck Pyramid crowd

No idea about the light show. I don't think they've had it previously at Glastonbury.

Nah, they won't play on the Pyramid. Some dreams are better left unlived.

*SNOBBISH COMMENT ALERT*

Don't 'give away' Hot Chip to the likes of your average Pyramid watcher. West Holts all the way. In the dark. With lights flashing around. And us dancing. Like Idiots. Make it so, Eavii.

I don't think they rely heavily on a light show, but a light show with them is a pretty good addition. Their last appearance at Glastonbury was to the setting sun.

Yes, yes, yes! This is the one thing I want from the festival this year!

Just listening to the new record again. I know there is a lot of (deserved) love for their rarely played early stuff, but Why Make Sense is a bloody excellent album. No filler for me, good production and several absolute Hot Chip classics in there too. The (closing) title track is a particular favourite.
