ghostdancer1
for almost all bands I don't like, I can see why other people would like them for various reasons. Alt-J are an exception. there is absolutely nothing noteworthy or interesting or enjoyable about them IMO. dull dull dull. in a world of bland indie music, they are the beigest of the lot. zero000
This quote from their Wikipedia page sums them up: "The band's unusual sound stems from the fact that due to living in student halls, where noise had to be kept to a minimum, they were unable to use bass guitars or bass drums." Becstalumps
I've tried my hardest to enjoy Alt-J, I've been told by so many people that they're amazing but I just don't get it? Boring and lifeless for me Agreed. Dull as hell.

Rock and Roll. Fuck me. In about 2005, when I used to go clubbing constantly. On occaisions at 4am we'd travel from Manchester to Leeds to a house that was converted into a club every weekend. The policy was, if you found it - you could get in. We didn't even know the owners. We only started going as it was a myth. The police shut it down virtually every weekend. Once there was 300 people there. about 100 in the house, 200 in the street and garden. Absolutely mental. These twats wouldn't even play a bass. They can fucking do one. I hate them even more now. I went outside with a few mates there who fancied a fag, then we got locked out because a shit ton of people happened to find it as soon as we got outside. I was gutted, as there were more gals in there than guys.
jonodillieono
How big is life sized? I remember it taking me a while to realise that the puppet was not Mr Oizo, that was a disappointing day. erm about 4 foot I'd say As big as he is in the videos/adverts. I think I meant to say to scale instead of lifesize

It's great they have lazers and a smoke machine and everything. There's apparently a fair few places like that around Fallowfield as well but I haven't come across them

Purple aki squat
My microwave oven has more personality and charisma than Alt J. The vocals wind me up. Surely there are better bands they could pick to headline other stage.

AdamWillingham
I personally like alt-J quite a bit, seen them live only the once at glastonbury and thought they were pretty good. Not as boring as band like royal blood for me. (will probably get a few down votes on this seeing these forums are plagued with alt-J haters)

Trifa
Haven´t been following this thread, but are Death cab for cutie big in the uk? Are they potentially an early afternoon other act? / Sweden RATM would be an awesome Headliner but they aren't playing right now?

They've got gigs on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday though so they're quite unlikely.

Are they potentially an early afternoon other act? / Sweden RATM would be an awesome Headliner but they aren't playing right now? I would say they are probably a late afternoon act over here, but don't see them playing G And RATM probably won't ever play again, it's a wish of mine they do, but massively unlikely I don't get how people find Royal Blood boring... Neither do I, I think it's because people think they are slightly one dimensional, but I fucking love that one dimension for now

willutalk
It's funny how we tend to get clutters of all this chat about how epic 80's/90's grunge/industrial/nu-metal would be at Glasto. It's something that I really love but it also makes me a little sad to think that it's a slight rarity now days. With the modern music scene as incoherent with decent rock as it is now days. Modern bands wanting to do a similar job, musically have their work cut out as the quality of albums like some that we've had in the 80's 90's has set the bench mark pretty high In my opinion all of those bands have had at least one quite astounding if not critically acclaimed album: Rage Against The Machine --> Rage Against The Machine, Evil empire System of a Down --> Toxicity, Mesmerise Nirvana --> Nevermind, Utero Nine Inch Nails --> Pretty Hate Machine, The Fragile, The Downward Spiral Faith No More --> The Real Thing, Angel Dust Soundgarden --> Badmotorfinger , Superunkown Pearl Jam --> Ten, Vs, Vitalogy Alice In Chains --> Dirt Jane's Addiction -- > Nothing's Shocking QOTSA (a slight later band) --> Queens of the Stone Age, Songs for the Deaf I've tried to cover all the bases Edited April 12, 2015 by willutalk
