It's easy to forget that Jay was a proper curveball back then. Kanye would be a far safer booking now.

And as for him not being able to fill over an hour.... howay man!!!!

I honestly think Kanye would be a huge risk. Tickets have sold out so not a risk on that front but a big risk on the PR front.

yep, but it could go either way. he could be terrible, or he could be the best thing anybody sees this year. you don't know what you'll get until it happens. a decent contrast to Friday's headliners.

i just can't see the festival risking it.

would it really be a 'risk'? the only thing that could be seen as a risk is the length of his rant - his performance will be on point. he's got the tunes. it'd just be whether he decides to rant for 5 minutes or 25 minutes (all the while accompanied by the instrumental to Runaway)

depends what he rants about though doesn't it.

At least it'd be an interesting booking. Kanye's the hot and spicy meat feast pizza to the Foo Fighters' margarita. Not everyone will appreciate the spice and it could come off terribly, especially if the meat's undercooked, but everyone's satisfied, some perhaps underwhelmed with the margarita

Re: his rants, if he does headline and goes on a 20-minute rant about Louis Vuitton [or insert rich person's brand here], will anybody give a shit at Glastonbury? Angry rants aren't really in the spirit of the place anyway.

As I said earlier, his talk (or rant, whatever) at Oxford today probably went down better than it would at Glastonbury. If he was ranting about designer fashion, they probably thought it was profound, social commentary :P

I'm always gonna go Runaway. It's in my top 5 Kanye

Guys are we forgetting Devil in a New Dress - that Rick Ross verse, that production, "the casualty of tour", one of my fave songs of all time *insert kanye voice for the "of all time"*

he seems to be on a fashion hype at the moment, so it'd almost definitely be that. maybe he'll compare himself to any number of historical icon as well. it's never anything overly offensive...

He'll rant about not seeing one person wearing Yeezy's after 2 nights of torrential rain (I joke, there'll be no rain)

only really a risk for the BBC, and i'm sure they would be running it on a time delay on the actual broadcast.

didn't he not play a song for 20 minutes at one of them? Just stood talking shite?

yeah at Wireless in London last year. thankfully i saw him in Birmingham a couple of days later and he only ranted for 5 minutes (mostly about people booing him at London). if he went on for that long at Glastonbury i could see hoards of people leaving - if he kept it short and sweet it shouldn't affect the performance too much. you just never know which way it's gonna go

He's a divisive figure. People will actually be upset at him headlining rather than just not bothered, and that's before he'd even perform. A bit like when Metallica upset people last year but worse.

I think his festival past is kind of relevant too - The Big Chill sold poorly and folded and Wireless had news-worthy amounts of people disgruntled and the Birmingham leg was quickly canned over poor sales.
