Would Kanye at Glastonbury work?

hmmm ... so two things have now come my way lately, both which suggest it might be Kanye, but nothing more.

I can't get my head round it seems like such a huge risk

If he played all the hits and kept the ranting to the minimum it could be huge

but playing the new stuff he wants while lying on the floor and ranting with a mask on could sink majorly

Anyone remember in the run up to last year when a new American user signed up and was convinced Kanye was headlining Sunday night, despite all of us knowing it was Kasabian? Of course, that probably isn't connected at all but food for thought.

Yeah that was weird(ly entertaining). Maybe that guy had the right info, except that he'd signed up to headline in 2015??

Hail Yeezus.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXTtvJ5OJXo

His coachella set would be pretty ideal on the pyramid (with some newer and popular songs off yeezus/so help me god).

Its just yeezy playing the hits, great performance wise, cool stage set up with the dancers and justin vernon guesting, the pyramid crowd would love it.

Part of me just wants him to come on and play I'm in it, Blame Game, Send It Up, Guilt Trip etc. but I can't see it going down well...

christ the reaction to Foos, Kanye and Swift being the headliners from some people on this forum (and outside of it) would be hilarious. very odd set of headliners if true. big lack of HUGE name and/or 'indie' act at the top which there almost always is, but i would be over the moon with it - can imagine a lot of people really REALLY wouldn't though (and will receive such a reaction more than any other set of headliners before)

Meh I don't think it'd be that bad. Foos are as big as anyone, although there is a lack of any kind of legendary act. Foos will also appeal to anyone expecting to see a Kasabian/AM, etc., up there. The individual reactions to Kanye and Swift may be negative but on the whole I don't think there'd be a problem.

Dunno about the lack of huge name

The Foo's are one of the biggest stadium bands going, and I'm pretty sure every festival wants to put them on their lineup, they also seem to be one of the most requested acts ever.

Kanye is the controversial, massive booking that people will talk about up until the festival.

Swift is someone at the peak of their career, and would probably satisfy the locals.

I can see the trio being pulled off very well, but regarding the foo's as the "heritage big band" this year may raise some eyebrows. But then again it's strange to think that the Foo's have been going for 20 years, and dave's career even longer!

Did somebody say headliners Foo Fighters and Kanye West is lacking a huge name? Fucking hell. I'll have whatever you're smoking. Regardless if you like them or not, they are both absolutely huge.

I'm in Paris soon and lucky enough to bag a ticket to one of his shows that he just announced. Will report back on how good it was.

I suspect what people are getting at is - as huge as they are, they're not heritage; not legendary. In 30 years time, we're not going to be discussing Foo Fighters and their contribution to music as we would The Rolling Stones, Led Zep, Prince or - like her or not - Madonna. But these enormous heritage bookings must be genuinely few and far between so I think to expect them is optimistic but not necessarily realistic.
