Trying for a ticket in October for 2015: Yes, no or undecided?

Much as people say it's not all about the lineup - surely given the length and breadth of the lineup on offer this year, you realise that even if you don't know who's playing, as a music fan you'll get served well - right?

I know I'll always have a good time at Glastonbury, but I'll probably have to sacrifice a holiday abroad to go so I wont to know that at least one of the headliners excite me. Also think Glastonbury often clashes with the Goodwood Festival of Speed which is something I'd like to go to one day. Also the general principle of being asked to pay for something when you don't know what your getting doesn't sit well with me (even if I trust the Eavis')

As I said whilst I have some reservations I probably will still end up trying for tickets. Never really looked into it, do you lose your deposit if you get tickets then aren't interested when the lineup is announced.

Been going since 81 and will be back in the hunt for tickets in October..... BUT for the the first time ever on the Sunday this year i thought that was it I` by the main stagem not coming back.

Was at the back of the main stage about 1/2 an hour before Dolly (against my better judgement) and needed to get through a row of chairs (which i have no problem with as they were at the back and not down front/in the middle) to get to where my crowd of friends were. I got through with no problem, with a polite excuse me please. (though was tutted at!) When my wife tried they moved the chairs so she couldn`t get through then started to give her abuse, she promptly told the loud mouth dick to f**k off who then responded with "so much for the glastonbury spirit"....... I have never in all my years of going felt like chinning someone and only my wife stopped me. At that point I thought I don`t need this any more..... BUT seeing the Wailers on West Holts later changed my mind and ticket gods permitting i`ll be back.

I'll be coming back - by myself if I have to - though would rather not lose out in October again as the wait til April was agonising.

For various reasons i was undecided in October so did not go for a ticket , but my mates did.

I decided to go for a ticket in the resale but was away in Spain on resale day so had to rely on mates to get me one.

They were straight through on reasale day and said it was far easier getting one in the resale than ticket date.

Not going to try for next year myself. I've done 5 out of the last 7 years and although I still enjoy it overall i'm starting to get annoyed by the sheer number of people and people being ruder and selfish year on year. (i'm also doing a 2 week tornado chasing tour in May/June so that will half bankrupt me too!) Having just come back from 2000 Trees and how refreshing it was to go to a small festival with a nice vibe I think i'll stick to smaller festivals from now on. I must be getting old! :D

That sounds fricking awesome!!

Can you PM me details?

I think the Dolly crowd situation was pretty ridiculous though - there were loads of people just pushing through not even saying excuse me - I have one person (I was right at the back on the very side by the way) look at my chair and then promptly just step mud all over it to get past with not even an apology. There was also a girl that was so keen to force her way through she nearly knocked over a little toddler that was stood in her way with no regard what so ever

Yeah the crowd was ridiculous, all it takes is a bit of politeness and it would of been far better, we were intending to stand behind the group with the chairs and only needed to get through.... we could of just stopped where we were and stood directly in front of them and the kids with them would not of seen a thing.... but thats just not our way.

I was considering giving up for smaller festivals for a year or two at some points on the Friday/Saturday when all the mud/amount of crowds/rudness of crowds /distance to everywhere all seemed far to much for me to handle but I spent a couple of fantastic hours in the glade until Jack White and spent most of Sunday away from the main stage areas until Kasabian. There was a nice crowd around me during Kasabian of all bands! Spent sometime wondering about taking in the sites of the festival at night and then when I got back to my tent there was a campfire going so sat around that for an hour or so...

and I've decided I am going back for sure :D but I think I am going make sure I camp on the Park side of the railway track, so if its muddy it doesn't feel to far to get to all the places of the festival that are really enjoyable! Just take some time out of where all the crowds are and it should go back to being amazing.

We had a decent little spot near the path that runs up one side of the Pyramid, that was until every last spec of floor space was taken up and people decided just to stop on the path therefore causing everyone to barge their way through.

It got a bit much, so early in the set we decided to head to the very back was listening to an interesting conversation between the head security guys and the police who were worried about crowd control and the possibility of crushing

The security guy said to police that they had just checked overhead shots and that it was currently 4 people per square meter and that the London underground is 6 people per square meter

Am going to try and make it there again this year.

I went in 2013 and fell in love with Glasto. Had to miss this year when I originally had a ticket on T Day, but had to give it up due to work commitments, money, and the fact that Glasto is a long way from Australia!

But after watching the highlights this year with my girlfriend, she is super keen and I realised how much I missed it.

So, I am hopeful I can be successful again on T day!

Hello 01seb

I remember your questions on here from just before the festival in 2013. Pleased to hear that you enjoyed the festival. Hope that your mini tour around the country went well too.

Catching one of them touchdown and seeing it's immense power would truly be an amazing sight. You'll probably scoff but we had a tornado (not sure of scale) hit Birmingham in 2005. I didn't see it first hand but was involved in some areas of the clean up / repair operation that took place afterwards. The repair bill for the people I worked with who had property there came to over £1M alone. When I first went to inspect something after the tornado you could see where it had hit and then traveled - it was mayhem and a building contractors delight all in one.

Anyway, back to the OP. It was my wife's second Glastonbury this year and she declared that she didn't want to go again as she would prefer a smaller festival. I think she might be persuaded to give it another go if we go down the camper van route. The thing is do I feel like going again? I'm not sure. Even if I decided now not to go, then what on earth is going to stop me from trying on T Day in October? I'm pretty sure I'll be pressing the F5 button like a junkie gambler with no will of my own - as usual.

I'll be giving it my best shot. Members of our ever-expanding group have been discussing next year pretty much since we left Worthy Farm on 30th June.

This year was my 4th and without doubt my best. I thought nothing could top 2010, my cherry-popper, but this year was incredible. Special moment followed special moment. I cried at least 3 times because of the sheer joy it brings me.

Can't see me doing without it for a good while yet.
