Widely disputed though. Plus he has to say that otherwise they'll all want higher fees.

If it's a no goer... Why on earth are they playing Hampden on the Sunday and not the Saturday?

So they can cart their multi million pound set around?

Besides, why on Earth are they playing Hampden on Sunday and not Monday if they're playing? ;)

They've got plenty of time to cart the set to Glasgow for Saturday. Which would be an infinitesimaly preferable date for the vast majority of people who would want to go.

You could ask why there's two off days in between most shows then. And why they're not trying to play every Saturday,

The set isn't even a concern as they'd probably only need a scaled down set to play Glastonbury and that could be built and kept in the UK. But the resting days are the concern. The fact that they need that time to take the set from Berlin to Glasgow is the correct answer to your question though.

All of this "moving the set" speculation is a bit pointless, as most mega bands have two or even three identical stages & sets which leapfrog each other around the tour.

and, like Metallica, if they were to play GF, they would not use their set anyway as there is no way of keeping it at the back of the stage whilst changing all the other bands all day.

If they play it will be with little or no set - just them.

I shall clutch my straws.

The 24th is a Wednesday, half the Glasto crowd won't have arrived by then, can't see them playing on 24th, plus the tv coverage won't have started either

The 24th is just listed as that's the first day of the festival.

Well if they're not bringing their stage set up with them, maybe they're playing the Bandstand on the Wednesday?!
