2014 Secret Sets

I caught:

Stealing Sheep - late Sunday in the Tipi - brilliant and better than the daytime one

Bird Courage - Sunday teatime at the Piano stage

Unknown act - late Sunday Piano Stage, trio, two-thirds bearded, singer used a megaphone. Any ideas?

Didn't seem to catch any on the earlier days.

Lily & Madeleine did a piano set on Saturday, and apparently Cate Le Bon did one too.

Perfume Genius on the comedy stage Sat night. So damn good!

Yeah, caught the Perfume Genius one, one of the highlights of my weekend. Enjoyed Lily & Madeline on the Piano stage also, but only when I went and sat right in front of stage, couldn't hear them from more than 10 feet back.

Regretting now my decision not to stay for the late night Stealing Sheep show

Kiran Leonard's amazing set, second last on Sunday!! We sung him happy birthday, before his friend went on stage to do an improv interpretive dance

that dance was one of the funniest things I have seen at any festival. and security trying to stop him at the start and the look Kiran gave him.

The problem with 'secret sets' this year was

1 - the late night Tipi sets were all listed on the clashfinder

2 - Line of best fit Tweeeted the Piano Stage ones

so not sure any of them were 'secret' this year

Stealing Sheep's last set last night was a bit of a visual feast. Shame it was 15 mins late starting and no allowance given to finish late as a result

Not sure why the pre-advance notice is a problem - made it wonderful as far as I could see and yet the knowledge didn't attract more people than normal - a win/win in my book?

Also not sure an act doing a secret show could possibly start late

Not so secret Kiran Leonard set which he himself announced at his earler big top set, was incredible, followed by Stealing shop, in Tipi on Sunday

Arc Iris pianist performed a shared piano duet with a person unknown at about 1 a.m on saturday/sunday

St Vincent q&a on library stage. Started later than advertised, so we HAD to leave when Ezra Furman struck up on the garden stage

The Tipi sets certainly weren't supposed to be public knowledge, but it seems someone with access to internal documents leaked them on Facebook. Piano sets have always been advertised around the site in advance.

Did H Hawkline not play a secret set? Sweet Baboo (for whom he plays bass) intimated towards the end of his own set that he would.

Ah, so that's who that was. Another blank filled in. Yeah, missed Hookworms earlier in favour of another act assuming would catch them in the Tipi. Not a great decision that one

MJ suggested on Twitter they hadn't realised there'd be severe decibel limits in the Tipi, which is understandable for the time but doesn't work too well if you're Hookworms.
