Yes you are now under a one day ban. I'm only jealous becuase I had a field full of the same number bus & deleted the link when cleaned my computer and impossible to find again :)

I fully accept the ban on the grounds that the content of my post was more than uninspiring. That said, I'm off to Amsterdam on Sunday and don't get back until late on Wednesday (we are going over for the Kings Day celebrations). Could you find it within yourself to allocate the ban for that period instead of tomorrow? :)

Have a wonderful time Yog. A long time ago (most things in my life are a long time ago these days) I had a Dutch girlfriend who lived on The Singel, one of the nicest canal streets in Amsterdam, and I discovered about what was, then, The Queen's Birthday. It's lovely because all the laws on street selling are lifted and all the kids bake cakes and get out their old, unwanted, toys and set up stalls outside their houses selling them.

Margriet, my then girlfriend now just has the status of old friend, and she now lives in Delft, which is a beautiful town in Holland, which I now much prefer to Amsterdam - but that's probably an age thing too.

Enjoy the cafes!

Thanks grumpy. I have actually been to Amsterdam when it was Queens Day many years ago now. We hired two houseboats for 5 days and had the most wonderful time. The city knows how to party anyway but goes in to overdrive for the monarchy's birthday. It was this reason why I booked it late last year as I wanted to show my wife what it was like. Strangely enough she's been to Amsterdam once before herself but arrived the day after Queens Day. Not knowing about the day before's celebrations she wondered why the city was quiet and full of litter.

Went for my 40th and by chance it was Queens day. Never knew anything about it till then & had been once before. Great buzz that day brings to the city. Have a superb time Mr & Mrs Y and of course the ban takes place on Kings day :)

I tip my hat to you sir. Kings Day is an excellent choice. By that time I'll be communicating by semaphore so will have no chance of posting here. :)

Strangely enough I'll not even be trying to trip there. This is going to be ab alcohol based mission only. Me and the wife can't be arsed going anywhere near the stuff and the two people travelling with us have no inclination to take any goodies on board whatsoever. Mind you I can se the 200 euro damage payment deposit not being returned to us. One memmber of our group does tend to become a human pin ball machine after a few hours drinking.

Apologies for any spelling mistakes - it's awfully difficult to see the screen right now.

Oh my word. Yog in Amsterdam. I expect an international incident by Tuesday at the latest. Carnage.

I know where you are coming from. America will probably switch to Defcon 1 on the strength of my escapades. Actually, the truth of the matter is that I'm not the worst person going! Lord help us but this one's going to get messy.
