Paul Weller?

New album, doing BST, sold out tour, does his own pretty big outdoor gigs, hasn't done Glasto for 7 years, big back catalogue ...

Saw him at TITP last year and it was absolutely woeful, but the crowd was massive so there must still be a cult following

Elbow were on 6Music talking about theyre upcoming shows. They said they were doing some festivals this year but were sworn to secrecy about what they were doing, and indicated their manager was gesticulating at them as they were speaking to be quiet .... I wouldnt have thought they would even be there this year, but cant think what else they would have to be so secretive about?

Could see them playing Kendal calling or Festival number 6

the tent was half empty, bloody philistines. Me, wife and 2 kids (5+7) all absolutely loved it

Was it? I was right down the front and didn't look behind me, crowd was all pretty packed in and going mental for the duration so I assumed there were vast swathes of people going for it in the rest of the tent. Was a fantastic show though, in the middle of a fantastic day; Slow Cub - Phantom Band - Kelis - Goat - Teeth Of The Sea - Slowdive - Mogwai - dancing to crap pop into the small hours, the stuff dreams are made of, really.

I ain't gonna take the fruits of my loin into a Metallica style moshpit, and after watching crystal fighters (?) we wandered over after hearing the chat here about them, and walked right into the middle of the tent, with enough room for us all to have a jig.

Aww nice to hear they stayed for the festival, great band, I'd never heard them before, but I turned up for their set on the Sunrise and was blown away, highlight of the weekend. Got really into them since, and every time I've ordered something from their Bandcamp, it arrives with a postcard, with a handwritten paragraph from the man, which is a nice touch.
