and how do you gain knowledge, connections and business sense if not but by doing it and asking questions...?

You can't get buisness sense as it's an instinct and people can pick up experince and make connections through working at events managment, tour bookers, music venues etc

Your attitude has been it wont cost me much and it doesn't work I can ditch it and at this very early stage with no money or experience I can't see it working out.

In answer to your question about who'd work for npthing plenty of people volunteer to steward and litter pick etc at festivals up and down the country in exchange for their ticket. Not strictly free I know but far from minimum wage

i think that would work brilliantly for things like glastonbury where ticket prices are high but at £10 a ticket im not too sure many people would bother

who would actually work for nothing though :/ what kind of staff do i need? iv got the bar sorted... clean up crew i can pay some friends cash in hand to help with, security, my friend has been in the game for 25 years and said he has some contacts that could come in and help but obviously not for free so that will cost a few hundred £

i kind of assumed that hiring lights, stage etc. the people i hire from would install it aswel :/

How much will your friends want cash in hand to clear up? £100 each per day? And where do they take the trash and how much will they charge you for disposal of it (the answer is: loads!).

You'd be looking at double (at least: long hours!) that for each security person - and you'll need ten or more of them, not one or two.

There's a few grand just there, and you've not even really started with the things you need.
