Would love them to do a couple of sets, late night slot on the Hell Stage, or whatever it gets called this year, would be pretty awesome I reckon

^ This. Would perfect at 1:00am or something, and 2ManyDJs closing the night a few hours later.

Most likely to be in Sonic though, which is a shame (I hate that 'tent').

Heading over to WHP on Saturday, hopefully it won't be like some of the horror stories I've read. Its one of the few nights not sold out so lets hope its not packed.

I'm going up on Saturday too. Great lineup so surprised it hasn't sold out.

Not arranged any accommodation yet so might be a long night...

we're going from Glasgow in a couple of weeks without any accommodation at all, train down early evening, potter about Mancs and get some drinks, whp, 6:00 train from Mancs over to York then 8:30 or so back up the road to Glasgow, going to be a serious expedition

good news for London clubbers and the scene in general

although surely these new strict drug laws are gonna make the place shite? i know it's not all about the drugs but it's gonna change the entire atmosphere in there, both through feeling the threat of the security measures and not being able to enjoy the music in the way you want do

It's not about the drugs. It's about the fact that the council's been overturned due to how vastly unpopular and ridiculous the whole situation is. There's a dire situation about the club scene not just in London but all around the country. If the biggest clubs in London can be bullied by their councils, under pressure to increase the amounts of "affordable housing" (lol yeah right, but that's another issue), then what chance do the smaller ones have? The club staying open isn't a huge deal in terms of the venue - it's what it signifies.

It'll cool down quickly enough. After the last license suspension, operations were back to normal within a few months. I suspect it'll be more of the same this time around, but probably after a year or so. I mean, it doesn't sound like they've changed all that much; an ID scanner and lifetime bans. Plus fabric having to pay for the legal fees (lol seriously?) and doing community outreach (which is a good thing). I've had very thorough searches on the doors there. Like, illegally thorough.

I left sorting the accommodation to the rest since I sorted the flights and tickets.

On another note for anyone been this year how easy is it to get goodies inside? I imagine with the strict security on the door not many dealers are bothering inside

fairly sure i saw Soulwax play in the middle of the day/early evening at Bestival a few years back and i remember that working pretty well (was in a tent of course). not sure where i'd place them at Glastonbury though - high John Peel or headlining one of the bigger dance stages like Sonic i reckon

You did, on the Friday of 2012 in the Big Top.

The Big Top was particularly special that year: Soulwax, Gesaffelstein, Justice, Nero, 2manyDJs, Major Lazer, Orbital, Skream & Benga, Sub Focus, Disclosure

i tried to think about whereabouts they'd play earlier on, i've got absolutely no idea

definitely sonic for a soulwax live set

2many DJ's couldnt play anywhere in the late night area they would be far too popular unless a secret billing, but very unlikely.

not good news at all. Fabric have been had over a barrel. If i'd have contributed to the fund I would have wanted to see them take it to court and win. These new regulations will just prolong their eventual death. Who would go to a club where you know you are going to get basically strip searched on the way in and covertly watched throughout your night, whether you take drugs or not?

Not like they are going to:

A- bring down the already outrageous drink prices / improve the drinks range

B- Stop putting headliners on at 5am so that you have to basically take drugs to make it to the start of their set....

The worst of all is the statement which has made fabric "admit" to all wrongdoing AND pay the council's costs. An utter joke. The only thing I agree with is the age limit going up.

I don't really understand why they didn't just go to court as they were obviously going to win - hence the council and police's willingness to settle out of court. The whole thing is just bizarre.

it actually makes you think about how free you feel when at glastonbury to essentially do as you wish, within reason.

if you saw these kinds of crackdowns (i.e fabric) at the festival it would make a whole load of people think twice about going, i'm sure.

I would like to see some kind of drug safety efforts at the festival. I think distribution of testing kits from an info stall would be very progressive, although unlikely. Also warnings put out about any dangerous drugs in circulation, bringing in the LOOP people from WHP / Secret Garden Party would be a start.

On the other hand, new venue opening in Canada Water.

looks awful. 5000 capacity? welcome to £40 tickets, inadequate toilets, overcrowding, early start and early finish.

the way the scene is going is dreadful. So much of it is all profit driven. Only Phonox / XOYO group seem to be doing anything decent in London & for the right reasons (eg residency nights, sunday opening, reasonable ticket prices, eclectic line ups) apart from the really underground stuff.

Ouch, is it really 5000? Only saw the headline but that doesn't sound great.

You list XOYO but not Oval Space/Pickle Factory, Studio Spaces, Corsica Studios? Ok

Strong work. It's going to be a good night if so many people are coming from all over for it.
