Heading to Download 2015 from South Africa

Hi Guys,

New to the forums. My mate & I planned on going to DL 2 years ago for Slipknot, Iron Maiden and Rammstein, that plan fell through unfortunately. Promised myself that if Slipknot & Marilyn Manson are announced for the same fest I'll go, and well, here I am trying to make that happen. Not worried about the rest of the lineup, 1 day's worth of headliners alone already top the biggest festivals over here!

Not going to have much time off work though... So I basically need fly and arrive in London on Thursday the 11th. Then get to DL & have the time of my life. Then catch a flight back either Monday evening (15 June) or Tuesday morning (16 June).

How bad is traffic getting to the festival on Friday? Is it better to stay in the area around Donnington on Thursday or even camp from Thursday onward? And how bad is traffic out of the festival to get back to London? (Getting stuck in traffic for 6 hours + for a 200km journey out of our biggest fest is normal, and that's only about 20 000 people)

Any advice is appreciated, really flippen amped to do this!!!

Yup, then just hop on a train to derby, you can get the shuttle bus from there. No need to drive at all.

Hit me up closer to the time and we can meet up for a beer if you want, I'll be watching both those bands anyway.

Hello to a fellow South African!

I'm also heading to Download this year for the first time. Soooooo Amped!

My wife and I are heading there for a 2 week holiday (as we also have some family there), ending it with Download weekend. Gonna be amazing!
