This is a band which has headlined a UK festival pretty much every year since 2007, I honestly can't get excited for it.

Yeah them being back at reading is cool, but it's just like that pizza analogy dental explained. You've had it before no matter how much it's been polished to look exclusive.

I know it is not an inspired booking, but it is better than most of the other predictions but I was impressed and I'm not even a big Metallica fan. I've never seen Metallica but after the good things said about their headline set at Glasto I'm probably going to go (unless they're opposite Refused, which I doubt they'll be)

The best possible announcement for me. One of my favourite bands of all time and the only band that I have left on my 'must see' list. I was in my car and when Enter Sandman started playing I shouted "OH MY GOD" and couldn't get the smile off my face. Absolutely can't wait.

It was a reference to this. Though I do find it a boring booking and I don't like them on top of that, and was surprised that so many people were happy at their announcement. However if it brings back a more alternative festival then that's good and also if they aren't using this as an excuse to delay the album (they definitely will) then they should have a new album out and it'd have an edge over the past five chances people have had to see them.

Yeah you did, but I can't imagine many Metallica fans, or people who would be interested in seeing Metallica, booked Glastonbury tickets

And to be fair, they're 20 years younger than the Stones and Angus Young is definitely lying when he says he's 59

They're entertaining live, a big name that hasn't played the festival that recently. But yeah, if you go to a variety of festivals, they're piss easy to see. Doesn't stop it being a good booking though.

I thought this until I bimbled along at Sonisphere as there was nothing else on. Fuck me they were awesome. Much better than the few times I'd seen them before. I'll be there on the off chance that it's half as good again.

Still not seen them yet. I can take or leave their music but I'm pretty excited to see if they live up to their reputation as a great live act.
