I don't actually mind them being over all the time. I'm always up for seeing them although not really inclined to spend money to do it given their sets don't change much.

Of all the vaguely realistic headliners, Metallica would probably have been my number 1 choice. I've seen them seven times but the last time was 2009. They were the first band I went to see, and they headlined the first festival I went to (which I went to mainly because they headlined). There was a time they were my favourite band and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing them again.

As for them being a good booking generally? For all the comments about them playing everywhere, they've only actually played 4 English dates in the past 5 years - and this time they'll (hopefully) have the new album hype-machine in full swing (although I'd be happy with a greatest hits set). The Glastonbury performance may have sparked some interest them among people who wouldn't go to a metal festival and if Sonisphere isn't on then Reading have made a great play for the rock kids who would have gone there.

I'd imagine the new album will be primed and ready to be released by then much the same as last time they played just before Death Magnetic. Will be the start of their festival cycle to promote it.Download will be the year after then a stadium show the year after to finish the tour.

In the meantime Soni has a 2 year break again and come back with Metallica headlining in 2017.

As much as some people are moaning considering we could have had Linkin Park and out of all the real viable options Metallica are best one, much rather them than one of Florence, Libertines, The Black Keys, The Vaccines, Mumford & Sons, Prodigy...

There setlist oculd have been better I reckon, would have liked to have seen Hit the Lights, Blackened, Battery, full version of Welcome Home. Maybe 2x4 and Until it Sleeps but can't have everything.

Sure it was great, especially the last run of 'hits'. But with only 14 songs in the set, having that many from the black album meant it could've been better for me. I understand why they chose the set they did but I'd hope they would play a longer set with more of their earlier material at R+L.

Have to say i'm going to agree with everyone here, i band I wouldn't get upset about missing but a band i'd like to see to appreciate the skill of them
