European August Festivals (that tend to share acts with pukkelpop) headliners:

Reading-Leeds:

Metallica: they are in the Nordic Countries during Pukkelpop weekend.

Mumford&Sons: they can be at Pukkelpop

Highfield Festival:

Offspring: they can be at Pukkelpop

Marteria: german band

Sziget:

Florence & The Machine: Werchter

Robbie Williams: Werchter

FM4 Frequency Fest:

Chemical Bros: Werchter

Prodigy: Werchter

Oya Fest:

Beck: they can be at Pukkelpop

Florence & The Machine: Werchter

Way Out West:

Beck: they can be at Pukkelpop

Florence & The Machine: Werchter

Flow Festival:

Beck: they can be at Pukkelpop

Florence & The Machine: Werchter

Chiemsee Festival:
Offspring: they can be at Pukkelpop
Smukfest:

Beck: they can be at Pukkelpop

Lenny Kravitz: Werchter

So, now be have 3 clear options for headliner or subs: Offspring, Mumford and Sons and Beck (maybe the 4rth would be The Libertines) plus lot of electronic acts: Faithless, Major Lazer, Tiesto, Avicii, Garrix,... And for sure the classic hip hop strong name (Drake? Kanye? Kendrick?)

Not so promising...

I'd love to see Beck, though I am not sure that he would qualify as a "headline" act in my world. If (big IF) PKP went with Offspring, Mumfords and Beck it would be a spectacular misstep in my opinion. Only mumfords are headline material (and god only knows why they are that popular), Beck would probably cover the slightly left-field headliner that PKP tend to go for and as for Offspring, I very much doubt that would sell out Manchester Apollo so certianly not a headline calibre act in my mind.

Come on Chokri, hit us with some names and let them be impressive ones. Metallica

Think that Ellie Goulding, Enter Shikari, Simple Plan, Jose Gonzalez, Sigma (live), Kill the Noise and Wilkinson (hopefully his live show) are all very likely from the Frequency announcement. Just hope they don't waste money on Martin Garrix as there's loads of much better options available for the late night Main Stage slot this year.

I'm still convinced one of the headliners will be someone big that hasn't yet named any dates around that time. I haven't looked to see who the V rumours are this year, plus there's still one R&L headliner to come, so there should be some choices. It's worth bearing in mind though that Ellie Goulding was pretty high up the bill at RW last year so if she plays it will probably be as sub.

Faithless will be one of the headers I imagine.

Doing the festival circuit, no room at werchter.

Faithless/Mumfords/metallica

When is the first announcement? It's usually when werchter close to selling out isn't it?

Don't think Faithless are big enough to headline on their own but expect them to be part of a 2/3 band package at the top of the bill one night.

I'm guessing first names will be Monday 9th March.

I really can't see Metallica happening. They're playing Scandinavian dates on Thursday and Saturday. Technically it is possible, but the trip would make little sense.

What about one of Werchter's subs for Pukkelpop headliner? It happened in 2008 (Sigur Ros) and 2009 (Placebo) before.

Something like Linkin Park - Mumford - Florence + The Machine?

Kings of Leon announced today their 1st summer festival (in US)

If the "surprise" headliner last year was The Editors, can be logical thinking that Kings Of Leon can be our "surprise" this year. Both bands play every year Belgian Festivals (Werchter almost every year).

We'll see, but I hope that KoL will be as far as posible from Hasselt during PP weekend.

Wouldn't mind them tbh. Can think of a lot worse potential headliners. Killers on that line up and I'd take them too. Morrissey can fuck off though. I don't mind him but I want a kebab whilst I'm there.

Elbow might be a good shout for turning up, on tour around the same time and their last album was number one in Belgium last year.

Bad news!!! We can rule Faithless out ("stolen" by Werchter Classic).

Each new is worse than the last one...

Maybe I'm being optimistic but I don't think this news completely rules Failthless out. The festivals are six weeks apart, have different demographics and I'm sure demand will be there for more than one Belgian appearance this summer. You can definitely rule Saturday out as they're playing SW4 so it will more than likely come down to whether Lowlands and Frequency have got in first on the other two days.

I think we might actually see a bit of overlap between RW and PKP this year as a lot of bands are in Europe on both dates. Knowing our luck though it won't be The Chems, The Prodigy and Faithless we get but Florence and the Script!

Blur are playing Hyde Park in June. I think they've got to go on the list, haven't they (that list seeming being bands we'd like to play who will ultimately go on to play RW instead)

Blur have got to be a contender now. Played RW 2 years ago so surely more likely to be at PP?

Getting my hopes up now, there's some decent bands in contention for headliners & Subs.
