Really like that!

I caved and let my friend convince me to get a ticket for The Strokes on Thursday (Beck was the deciding factor in the end). Anyone else going?

My friend had to make a choice between The Strokes and Foo Fighters this week due to work, and has given me his 2 tickets for The Strokes for free... Hopefully he doesn't decide to swap last minute due to the Grohl factor!

Reaaaallly looking forward to Beck- that new single is excellent! Though I've heard The Strokes are in good live form at the moment so they're still the big draw for me.

aye it's quite enjoyable. doesn't excite me as much as Inhaler did on first listen, but i just hope they can keep up the tone of this song with the rest of the album. Inhaler seemed to promise a lot that wasn't really delivered, and considering this is going down a similar aggressive route i imagine it'll probably do the same

  • 2 weeks later...

!!! (chk chk chk) have a new album out this autumn, If it's as good as the last one, I will be very happy :)

The best band I saw at Glasto in 2007.

Purely by chance too as it started to rain and we took shelter where they were playing.

Better live than on the albums but the last one was very good so look forward to this.

Can't wait for their gig in London, new sound is really shoegazy and cool.

Looking forward to the new Crystal Castles album too whenever that gets dropped.

Yeah I'm really looking forward to that! Someone told me they were going right back to their 'BH' / 'Devotion' sound but this track suggests it'll fall somewhere between those and the newer albums. Either way, I'm sure whatever direction they go in it'll sound awesome!

Crystal Castles... Ethan's comments about Alice left a bad taste in my mouth so I'm yet to jump on board with listening to any of their new stuff! I'm sure I'll give it a fair crack when the album drops though

Mid-year lists, yo.

1. Susanne Sundfor - Ten Love Songs
2. Young Fathers - White Men Are Black Men Too
3. Bjork - Vulnicura
4. Sleater-Kinney - No Cities To Love
5. Nadine Shah - Fast Food
6. Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp A Butterfly

7. Siskiyou - Nervous
8. Errors - Lease Of Life

9. Father John Misty - Love You, Honeybear
10. The Phantom Band - Fears Trending
11. Modest Mouse - Strangers To Ourselves
12. Viet Cong - Viet Cong
13. Hot Chip - Why Make Sense?
14. The Pop Group - Citizen Zombie

15. Joanna Gruesome - Peanut Butter

Strong year, could have carried on further, been really enjoying stuff like Charli XCX, Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat, Belle & Sebastian, Public Service Broadcasting, Summer Camp, Courtney Barnett, The Cribs. Also I've not yet listened to some heavy hitters like Sufjan Stevens, Speedy Ortiz, The Antlers, Admiral Fallow, Natalie Prass, Torres, Colin Stetson & Sarah Neufeld, but I'll get round to them.

Top 5 gigs for extra indie points

1. Young Fathers, Gorilla
2. Nils Frahm, The Albert Hall
3. Sleater Kinney, The Albert Hall
4. Bjork, Castlefield Bowl
5. Emmy The Great, The Deaf Institute

All in boring Manchester.
