FloorFiller
Haven't been there myself Winslow. A friend went for Florence a few months and said it was fairly easy to find and you had a good view of the stage from most areas but I can't remember what they said about the sound. On another note, I see CHVRCHES have announced a tour with some fairly big venues (MCR Albert Hall, Ally Pally). What slot do people think they'll command next year? JP Headliners/3rd on Other? too big for JP headline i reckon - think they could be as high as Other sub myself (to somebody like Disclosure)

TomViolence
too big for JP headline i reckon - think they could be as high as Other sub myself (to somebody like Disclosure) Yeah, you're right there. I forget MGMT headlined it last year
dentalplan
John Peel headliners vary in size quite massively. That's why it's pretty hard to predict as it was this year. Easy to predict Chvrches won't headline it though after only just playing that stage. 2nd or 3rd on Other depending on who else they get. Don't think West Holts would be a right fit. Amy Lawn
Flashing image in the spoiler box, warning to anybody sensitive to this sort of thing. New Dead Weather album "Dodge And Burn" 26th September.
dentalplan
That's been announced a while hasn't it? Though I'd forgotten about it anyway. That's the problem with minimal promo and no live shows I guess.
FloorFiller
aye was announced about a month ago. considering it seems to have taken them ages to actually group together to record it, i wonder if they'll ever be able to tour it properly or if it'll just be the odd show here and there
Mash011
Considering going to that CHVRCHES tour, still regret missing them at Reading and would love to see them but the inevitability of them playing Glasto makes it seem a bit pointless. That said, if I don't go and then there's a clash... Needs more thought. Still really looking forward to their new album. Not sure how likely it is but I'd love to see them play on West Holts, subbing it maybe? JP or Other probably more likely, Edited August 11, 2015 by Mash011

JP or Other probably more likely, definitely not a West Holts act - i can't really see them playing any other stage bar Other tbh. seems the perfect fit for them at this stage in their career, and i'd put an early prediction on them subbing the day that Disclosure inevitably headline it

I can deal with that if it lets work on new The Kills, QOTSA and Jack White stuff happen freely.
Matt42
I'm thinking we could see Chvrches on mainstages next year. I reckon Reading will put them about third down MainStage. Possibly 4th down Pyramid? Is that a good fit or would subbing the other be more realistic?

But bringing out an album you are not even going to tour... begs the question, why bother?

Matt42
Art init. Yeah but, i'm guessing it's a massive project to put an album together - especially as a side project for an amalgamation of different bands. Touring makes the album more profitable and allows the album to reach more people that wouldn't normally have picked it. Daft Punk bringing out Random Access Memories and not being arsed to tour is still surprising to me. Since the album was ginormous and could of been even bigger with a tour. Felt a bit like a wasted opportunity due to the potential risk of the live show not reflecting the quality of the album.

The album was recorded at Third Man Studios and is coming out through Third Man Records so I don't think there will be so much financial pressure on it. And considering Jack loves the recording new music and hates touring then it makes a lot of sense. It's not all about the money, especially for those who made their money through being in one of the world's biggest bands this century - his fan club will keep a roof over his head whatever happens. Acid_Haze
I'd say Chvrches will be at about 3rd or 4th down Other stage next year even if they get big, I'm predicting their popularity to be similar to Imagine Dragons in 2014. They'd sub Other at a push I reckon Edited August 11, 2015 by Acid_Haze
kingcrawler
It's not like The Dead Weather will gain (or even have) many fans outside of the Jack White/The Kills fanbase so missing out on festivals and not touring won't affect them that way. jonodillieono
Yer they're much better at their own gigs due to having a better production and shit. As well as lazers, lazers make everything better

Really seems like they're stepping up a notch. And I am a fan of lazers.

Lord Rooster
Chvrches tickets purchased! I'll echo what's already been said in pointing out that they're definitely worth seeing at one of their own shows!
gluther
I've also got Chvrches tickets. Love them on record and was a bit worried that their songs wouldn't translate well live. The comments here are making me feel a bit better. Also if they play glasto next year I'd hope they play in the dark for the sake of their show. Is it dark by the time the other sub starts? Nope it's only about half 8. They'll have to get used to playing in the light though considering they'll be playing many outdoor stages so I don't reckon it'll be a problem.
