Art? Yes

My cup of tea? Not really.

One or two do intrigue me a little but most do very little for me

The keyboard one would be the one I'm drawn toward mostly.

Thanks for the reply. I did make a far far superior keyboard one, but gave it to a friend for his birthday. The one above is my second, kind of half hearted, version. I've been debating whether to do another. I now think I should and do it to the same standard as my previous keyboard head. The only downside of this is that they take a while to complete.

Thanks once again for responding - all feedback is interesting to me.

pretty much my feelings too - tho I'm also pretty sure that enough others will like one (or more) enough to part with cash for them.

Same here, the first one is the most interesting to me (although I like the inner tube/valve thing it would work better for me if there was more going on).

The first one has a spark of something to it that appeals, but would you be offended if I said that others looked incomplete, as if you lost interest or inspiration? The one with the nails stands out in that respect for me.

Morning Neil

Yes, I'm trying to sell a few on ebay. I've only recently put them on so cannot judge yet if they are worthy of being a commodity someone would want to buy. I only made them to keep myself amused, but can't help but wonder what other people think of them.

Thanks for responding.

Hello Spindles

I think I'd have to agree with you on the one with the nails. I kind of recall a 'fuck it, that'll have to do' moment with it. Thanks for pointing out something I should have already acted up on - I'll try not to let that laziness occur again.

As to the other pieces, I'm afraid they are (apart from two - which I don't like) the completed pieces to my satisfaction. If I'm being fair to myself I'd say that the photos don't really do the heads justice eg the first and second heads are coated with fine iron filings which I have wetted in order for the filings to rust. If you look up close at the heads 'in the flesh' so to speak I think the texture and lack of uniformity makes you appreciate the head.

Thanks for replying.

Have you had much interest on ebay as yet. I find them quite intriguing and quirky

I think I'd be flouting ebay rules (which I don't want to do) if I was specific in this area, but I am happy to say that there is currently some interest on five of the pieces. Whether this ends up in bids only time will tell.

make sure you list them on there at a high price - for this sort of thing, a high price will actually increase the desireability of them.

(my bruv used to do rough-welded art-sculptures, and people would happily pay very stupid prices for it).

I know where you are coming from and agree. I think the opening auction figures I have put down are reasonably high. I'll certainly not be lowering them should there be no interest. I have been toying with the idea of putting them on here (see link below). They charge 30% but I suspect the heads would be seen by more people who are looking for this type of thing.

I think they would look more effective all together rather than separate. My personal opinion on them is that they are 'ok'. I wouldn't buy them but I might photograph them if I saw them in a park or something.

Hello Katster

I had thought about selling them as one lot and giving it a title, but then thought I'd just give them a whirl on their own on ebay. If they don't sell there then I may well put them on as one lot on that Saatchi site. Then they could stay on their until some loony came along and bought them - or didn't come along at all, as the case may be.

Thanks for the feedback.

I like the ones with coloured wire coming out of their heads - they made me smile! I'd happily display them in my home as a pair, if only I had the space - sadly, I don't. It looks as if you spent a lot of time completing the keyboard one - I like it and I can see it appealing to other people too! The one with the bolts coming out of its head and the starey blue eyes is a bit creepy, though might appeal to those people who are into that sort of thing, I suppose.

Anyway, good luck with your enterprise! An ex-colleague of mine used to sell items through Amazon - I don't know if this is an avenue that you could use?
