Hot Chip warm up gig Birmingham 20th Feb

This was my seventh Hot Chip gig.  it was perfect.  I was up on the top balcony for a change and it was a flawless show.  I had been listening to their Glasto set this week and there were lots of similarities but I’m not providing spoilers. 

 

Fun fact: So far I’ve met 6 of them.  (Not Joe).

Travelling from Middlesbrough to London for next Friday's show, can't wait.

I bought my mate a standing ticket off StubHub last night for under face value, but when I received the eticket is was for seating in the Circle! I've spoken to StubHub and they've admitted the seller has cocked up and that they will "try" and resolve it. Has anyone had issues like this with them before?

can i ask what time they've been coming on stage? as it happens I will be in and around brixton on thursday 22nd and might try to get a cheaper ticket outside. i guess around 9pm?

In Bristol they came on at 9:00 and left at 10:35.  With a short "encore" break.

My new girlfriend managed to get me a ticket for Brixton Friday. Also got me my Glasto ticket. Safe to say it's going well so far.

As it stands I am going on my own on Friday but I don't think I care.

i'm going to the Birmingham show, with this being in such a small venue will it be a normal hot Chip style gig or something a bit more toned down?

 Better than Glastonbury? Can't wait until Friday. Just a shame it's in a sold out Brixton Academy - getting to the bar/toilet will be a 'mare.

Listen to their newest 'Why Make Sense?', their best in my opinion and the one that'll get played the most. It's what got me into them.

I missed it in the setlist last night, although the rest of the tunes were so outrageous that I didn't really mind. So glad they did Why Make Sense, it's an amazing song and I don't think they've played it the other times I've seen them on this tour. A very welcome return for Shake A Fist and Hold On, We're Looking For A Lot Of Love wasn't doing a lot for me, but I'll happily allow them one misstep in amongst all the back to back bangers.

I got verbal confirmation from Al afterwards that LCD reunion is not happening.

Yeah We're Looking For A Lot Of Love was definitely the low point of another wise flawless concert, hoping they swap it out for Alley Cats tonight.

The Dancing In The Dark cover has been recorded and is out on Spotify.  It's almost as good as the live version, which is pretty good, but I'd still rather watch my Glastonbury 2015 video.

And yes, it includes the "All My Friends" bit at the end.
