A lot of discussion by the 2000 Trees booker, James, on his podcast (2 promoters, 1 pod) on just this with Biffy. They'd be a perfect fit at 2000 Trees but they're still too big their agents think it'll damage their chances of getting rebooked at one of the big fests (more likely Download than R&L maybe these days). Simon has played Trees before and said he'd love to do it but I imagine the finances and optics just don't quite work. Think it's probably similar with the Trucks and Y Not sized festivals too - albeit a slightly better chance maybe of getting it done through the booking power of Superstruct.
Not sure I´d go as far say it´s a bargain. Other festivals have a lower price: Opener festival, for example, have a similar line up for around 250 Euros and Pukkelpop is around 270 Euros.
Guess it's all about proximity, it'd cost me a lot to get a hotel in Sheffield for 3 nights and drinks etc. anyone going to these from outside the areas will be committing quite a lot anyway. Anyone coming for this one has to stay in a nearby city
Oh aye not doubting they’d know the songs, it’s more just me questioning how many school leavers would actually be bothered about seeing KoL play (I don’t think many were at Leeds Fest in 2018 from what I recall the crowd being like). I thought it was such a weird booking for Boardmasters at the time.
Agree on last point. It’s such a shame as they’re my favourite band and always put on a class show. They’re so versatile musically too; not many bands could top Download, R&L, IOW, Victorious etc so I honestly don’t know why some of the smaller festivals don’t take a punt.
