Lineup 2016

this is the stupidest thing you've ever fucking posted

i am quite frankly honoured to be a part of this

I kind of see what he's getting at. Kanye has a pretty bad record with headlining festivals; the last year of the Big Chill, the only year that Wireless expanded to two sites, and then the Glastonbury announcement wasn't covered in glory either. Not really to say the first two are entirely his fault but I can see why those lines are drawn. Despite being huge, I think it'd be a risky booking for R+L and that's why it's not been made yet. Gazza definitely says stupider things than this every day.

Thats what I thought, but then foo fighters headlined in 2002 and then again in 2005

mentioned it elsewhere, but Foos have played/headlined Reading/Leeds on every one of their album tours apart from Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace (and possibly now Sonic Highways, but that remains to be seen). they're essentially the festivals house band. Biffy have probably done similar, but now that they've reached headliner status i doubt they'll be booked as regularly - they don't have the same pulling power that Foos have

Biffy haven't had a new album since they played in 2013. Foo Fighters had two albums between R+L '02 and '05. Including Times Like These, All My Life, DOA and Best Of You all released in that time in between. Also, that was quite a while ago and they haven't done a gap as small as 3 years since.

Biffy will almost definitely have a new album out by the time the 2016 festival rolls around, but yeah, they still won't headline

True but we know nothing about that now, not even a release date, so it wouldn't feel like much of a cause to announce them in the next few months.

Nope they won't, Biffy and Green Day 100% won't be it, even I'll admit based on them 3 that if any it'd be Foals. Should it be, it's nothing short of a terrible booking regardless of liking them or not, putting bias aside it's awful and if they can give you that now for that money then it doesn't look a nice future.

The logic is there, but in true gazza style he's put it through the google translator from English to French to Spanish and back to English before posting it.

If it's something like their first UK show of the year (not counting the one that starts in 2015 and ends in 2016) I could certainly see them going in for Biffy again and doing quite well off of it.

i'm struggling to think what other options Biffy have other than doing Reading/Leeds again (apart from BST i suppose) but i still don't think they'll do it. the net of headliners is far too wide for them to be making repeat bookings like that (i know, i know, Blink. let's just forget that one)

Okay it just makes more sense to me to book them next year when demand is relatively high and they've not played many shows on the album than 2017, just to preserve some four year turnaround instead of three.

or just... y'know... don't book them on this album tour and book somebody else?

So now you're moaning at a post that that is English before posting it on an English based website forum?

It's posts like that which has helpes the Reading part of this forum go to shit, just sprouting! Well done for doing that and all.

Yup you're right, it makes loads of sense to not only book a band 4 years later but to now book one 3 years later. Puts a nice little message out there saying, 'yes, we're doing this because we're out of ideas when one of our sites is selling poorly already!', yep this makes loads of sense! Do you want to rename the festival Download as well. FFS dental lol

On a real though Gaz, you even said yourself about them doing BST on an exclusive this year and T and R+L next year. All that would do is keep an already too soon booking but this time without much demand at all, whereas there would be demand next year. I mean, it's first pressing. Or do you want to wait til everyone else has had their fun with the olives? Fourth pressing. Yeah, like that's gonna be a party in your mouth, I don't think!
