Does the "Band Making An Announcement" theory not make zero sense for GnR, as it will be the middle of the night pretty much everywhere in the US at 8am. Makes me think if it is part of a wider announcement, it must be a European band. Although it's probably just RHCP.

No, because the announcement would be for Euro gigs wich means it'll be 8am/9am etc in other countries. If it was an announcement for them playing is the states then yes it would be stupid.

I can only think that the traditional Tuesday night announcement was only in place for the NME to have in their mag on a Wednesday, and that now they don't have it, it's just easier for FR to announce first thing on a Friday morning - i.e. Tuesday night announcements were never that convenient for FR themselves.

I only talk about NME because of the partnership R+L have with NME, which is far greater than any they have with Kerrang!, as far as I can see.

It must be someone that stopped them doing a Tues eve announcement and unless it's something really random, the chances are the act are announcing multiple shows, the fest have agreed to announce when they are ready and it's very tight lipped with nothing leaked. RHCP I just do not see needing tomorrow, it's not like they are going to go and announce other euro fests but I do think they'll be in a 2nd announcement. I just hope the wait is worth it, not announcing Muse either I think rules them out.

I agree. So that's no to Muse; Biffy coming back after 3 years is unrealistic to me; same with Green Day; Foals/Disclosure/both are too small to announce first; Chilis don't need tomorrow and this 8am thing; don't see why GnR would announce Euro shows only first; Coldplay and Florence already have just announced shows to sell; Foo Fighters I'm unsure; and I question whether or not The Roses are as in demand enough with Irish and Scottish shows, and the Wed. of Etihad not yet sold out. 

Might need to start thinking about less obvious choices: Radiohead? Kanye? The Strokes? Gorillaz? Even so, some of these don't make much sense.

 

p.s. Kanye to drop SWISH tomorrow and announce Euro shows plz
