4 different Courteeners songs? It can't be Fifth or 42s as they only ever play You're Not 19 Forever so I'm going to guess The Venue?

Actually nobody goes to Venue so it's gotta be 42s

Correct!

They played Acrylic, Bide Your Time, Cavorting & Not Nineteen Forever. LADS LADS LADS!

I'd assume so. I'd know pretty much everything from their first two albums due to them being 'the' band at my high school. Went to a Manchester club where they play 4 Courteeners songs last Saturday. Would anybody like the name so they can avoid it?

wasn't 42's by any chance? ahahah

If The Courteeners weren't from Manchester no-one would care about them. It's just that people are so desperate for that city to produce another Stone Roses or Oasis, that they think a mediocre Indie band will be just that.

I love how those of us who like and enjoy them are so completely disregarded like this

Completely agree with this guy. I've been a huge rhcp fan for well over 15 years and i remember loving their 07 set at reading. The jams were on point, plenty of album tracks i didn't expect to be played and John's solo's were tremendous. Only major fuck up was a really extended jam they had to do during can't stop due to kiedis ripping out a mic cord or something.

With all that being said, i could see why all of those reasons would also make a casual fan remember its being quite shit.. Yes they didn't have as a much energy as prior (or as they do with josh now, even if the solos aren't quite up to scratch) but they weren't in the best place then, shown by the fact john left soon after. Honestly looking back at it under the circumstances I'm quite lucky they played at all.

Anyway, im chuffed with them heading. Nothing else on there for me yet, which is for the best as after 10 years straight of weekends it'd be nice just to do a single day or 2 at reading next year.

There's a certain thing about festival headline sets though (especially closing ones), jamming and playing loads of album tracks is great at your own gigs but as the main band at a festival surely the idea is to appeal to loads of people? So say 40% of the crowd is hardcore fans, drop a couple of album tracks and they aren't exactly going to absolutely hate the band and go away telling everyone how shit they are and never see them again if the rest of the set drops the jams and includes a few more hits than usual?

Whereas for the rest of us, well you just have to look at the reactions on this forum to this announcement - it's given a massive black mark against them. I've barely listened to them since, and wouldn't even consider seeing them again. Me and some friends are considering what festival to go to, and this is not helping the cause of this particular festival. Obviously we need a fuller lineup

I bet it was Venue lol, I always go 42s when I'm in Manchester and they don't play 4 Courteeners songs. They usually finish on a Stone Roses song, Sally Cinnamon more than most and the crowd always do the Kolo and Yaya chants coming out.

I enjoyed Venue's when I went, very cheao but house drinks. 42s is better, both very young crowds, 42s maybe more so, want to do a Friday night there.

I think it is an average line up and still do not know if I want yo buy a ticket what shall I do? Plus why was the announcement at 8am it does not make sense as it was a bit cruel as made us think it was to due to a big announcement of a reformed band.

I'd say you're safe waiting for future announcements. The recent years that have sold out haven't until June/July.

You thought wrong as usual.

What he said was, when asked about the Chillis awful performance, that they booked the biggest band available instead of the best available, and they won't make that mistake again.

Okay. Sorry I was wrong. Feel free to take a Chil pill.

Bloc Party v Foals would make no sense.

It was more a general case of NME headers than specific days tbh, yes I know that wasn't clear.

Forggot about Catfish. I think you could have the NME headers correct but I believe the person who said ID to sub RHCP, it just fits as does The 1975 below then two.
