Expecting to hear news on the RHCP album sooner rather than later, there's been almost no press about it this year so I assume it's progressing well. I think they'd go down really well at R&L, and it's been long enough since they're last disastrous headline set to give it another go. Foals, Foos and RHCP would be a strong trio. Stick Disclosure, Bloc Party and The Prodigy as subs and I'd buy a ticket today.

Who'd I'd really love to see given a headline shot is Black Sabbath. Their last album is being written and they've only headlined once before so it'd hardly be a stale booking.

I think the Chilis as well just because I reckon they'll be touring next year and can't place them anywhere else. I don't think Foals' booking would necessitate two huge headliners though - if they're not confident they can headline they just won't book 'em to.

Chase & Status get predicted every year for Bestival and its yet to happen so I'm hoping this trend will continue. Agree about the other two - then possibly a hip hop act in the third slot

I reckon Chase & Status will be the shitty dance act that closes IOW and/or TITP next year. Disclosure for Bestival I reckon.

C&S aren't thaaat shitty Dental, great fun live with a pretty strong back catalogue and are far better than the likes of David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Avicii.

Do you think I'm the sort of person that likes fun things? :P

Ooh aye I didn't think of Disclosure actually.

Was thinking of a hip hop act but none stick out to me. Then again who'd have predicted Missy Elliott this year?

Oh actually it does seem like a conscious decision to have a hip hopster headline if Missy Elliott was called up.

So... The Weeknd?

A$AP Rocky subbed Wireless this year, which I found pretty surprising but I can't see him headlining Bestival, I just don't think he's as big over here as some other choices.

If Reading was ever going to have a dance act close the MainStage, I could imagine them letting Chase and Status do it? I don't think it's such a mad suggestion anymore since they've tried it out on the NME and they are appealing to a dance market at the moment.

Would a top two each day of this work? Or come off well?

Gorillaz

Disclosure

Chase and Status (closing)

Foals (headlining)

Muse

Imagine Dragons

I dunno. Missy Elliott's last UK performance was mid afternoon at Wireless wasn't it? But I suppose she's got one or two hits that most people will know which isn't the same for A$AP.

And the festivals that have their main stages closed by dance acts applied for a change to their curfew especially for it. That wouldn't be viable for Reading with it being in town so wouldn't be worth considering.

Do you think they would ever take a risk and book Lana Del Rey or is it too leftfield for R+L? Against a headliner like Muse it might look okay?

I think her music has enough indie rock about it to work at R+L but they could have booked her last year when she was doing Rock en Seine and didn't so I'm not sure. Would think she'd be a little too big a draw for the NME Stage though - definitely upper reaches of main.

My only issue with closing sets on Main Stage is that there aren't a huge amount of dance acts which are big enough, and relevant enough, for R&L to be booked. I guess the like of C&S, The Prodigy could play it but apart from that there aren't any acts which couldn't close NME tent.

If they started sticking acts like Rebel Sound / KP / Skrillex to close Main Stage it'd be completely pointless as they could play at the exact same time in NME, in a tent (which is almost always far better for a dance act) and wouldn't push the Main Stage headliner earlier into the night, which I doubt anyone would want.
