st dan
Its always wrong. Even on the Monday. This. Even the heatwave in 2010 wasn't forecast the week before, and I would have thought that a completely dry 5 days would have been pretty easy to forecast on the Monday. sheffieldlady
I can repeat the gloomy, miserable rain in the North. It's got to the stage where we want a BBQ so might have to grab the umbrella and do it that way. I long for a Glastonbury like 2010, sure it was hot but I just want dry land?! (I make it sound like I'm stuck on a cruise ship, my nightmare version of a holiday)
briddj
What I'm worried about is that everything seems so positive at the moment. There's normally a bit of a roller-coaster. I'm scared we are going to get shit on a week out.
The Placid Casual
hello old sons http://www.accuweather.com/en/gb/pilton/ba4-4/june-weather/710458?monyr=6/1/2015 NFRNFC I'll take the Wednesday thunderstorm if it means the temperature doesn't go below 13 degrees! CaledonianGonzo
Its always wrong. Even on the Monday. Nah - we were fairly sure by the Monday / Tuesday of last year that we were heading for a spreading. Just looked at some old weather screenshots myself and my pals were mailing each other and there was thunderbolts and lightning forecast for the Friday by that pont. sheffieldlady
I had hoped that the thunder was a lie last year... I wasn't quite prepared what happened on Friday. I wouldn't expect to go 5 days at a festival without rain though.. light showers on the Wednesday, followed by drizzle at around 7 - 8am so I can sleep in the cool would be ideal. But you can't always get what you want...

Depends on the forecaster I suppose. Heres a dry forecast from the Thursday before and heres a wet one from the Sunday. And a light rain forecast on the Monday, with only the met office predicting heavy rain. In short, the forecasts are nonsense up until the week of the festival. And even then they're rarely 100% accurate. Which means we're fucked. Edited May 29, 2015 by The Nal
CaledonianGonzo
Aye - this was specifically a Met Office screenshot. I also recall hail being forecast at one point, and I don't think we were far away from it at a couple of points. I seem to remember a few hailstones mixed in with the deluge. I was around at Williams Green hiding under the wooden shelters there and we got 30 seconds of it yeah. Defiant people in the rain suddenly all legging it for cover. JoeyT
that storm last year was epic. about 6 of us huddled under a poncho it was cosy. saw one bloke at the pyramid stage literally stretch his poncho over his camping chair and tucked his head down. at one point I thought the poor sod was dead he didn't move for about an hour. We definitely knew there would be a break in the weather, up until the week before it was predicted to be after the festival, then from the end of that week and over the weekend it drew in until it was bang on for Thursday/Friday. Was a good journey on the weather thread for sure even if it was a disappointing outcome.
st dan
Based on absolutely nothing at all - I think we may be in for a repeat of 2014 weather ... Mostly dry and sunny with a biblical downpour. If so would you stick or twist?

Mostly dry and sunny with a biblical downpour. If so would you stick or twist? I'd stick! Didn't have a problem really. Except for when I went for a poo behind West Holts in the long drops at the precise time the biblical downpour happened. I supposed it helped turn my toilet roll into wet wipes! Though it wasn't nice having wet underwear. Balls.
neil999
i think there are times when the forecasters know we are in for a sustained dry/wet period of time...unfortunately this rarely happens meaning we generally dont know whats gonna happen i remeber the weather during u2 was only predicted a day before and by then they DEFINITELY knew there was gonna be a long, consistant downpour

It was on and off the whole time from Thursday afternoon till early Sunday morning.
Glastonlocal
Ahh weather thread is kicking into gear finally. Good. It looks to me that there is a good chance of some sunshine and some rain and also some clouds and some wind. There is a smaller possibility of some thundery showers and lightening. There is also a tiny chance that there will be either wall to wall rain or sun for the entire 5 days.

If so would you stick or twist? I'd stick. I asked this just after last years festival on here. Far more people seemed happier with 2014 weather just after the festival (around a 70 - 30 stick - twist split). As time passes I think the negative points of last years weather remain in peoples minds and the average, mostly dry weather over the 5 days gets slightly forgotten / dismissed. As optimism builds towards this year I'd say the current split is around 70 - 30 twist - stick for your question asked at this point in time. And it was fucking freezing late doors too. There was ice on the mud when I was going back to the van on Sunday night/Monday morning. Ill take 2013 again though.
