Weather thread 2015

Doesn't look too scary on the 3hr charts, it's all showery splatter. We can but wait and see

Did we get a rainfall figure on site for the last 24hrs?

Yeah I realised after that what I wrote originally sounded scarier than it actually is - just meant heavier than in the afternoon.

10mm over the last 24 hours on the site apparently.

I've been following this thread since at least page 47 so I'm a professional lurker but with nothing of significance to input, I haven't contributed. I'd like to thank everyone for their detailed evaluation of the incredibly changeable conditions and awesome insight. May the odds be forever in our favour!

I'm in breathing sigh of relief mode this morning.  Visible satellite shows that the high to the north has been successful in pushing down the band of cloud and it is breaking up nicely, removing the chances of any rain of significance.  It's going to be scattered cloud all week with the occasional light shower.  Expect cloudy mornings and sunny afternoons with warm evenings, so no sweatbox mornings in your tent this year, actual honest to goodness ideal festival conditions.

Well that sounds alright doesn't it

Sounds ideal! Thanks everyone for your updates, glued to this thread at the moment!

So here's today's early morning 00Z update!

Much better news for Friday with the rain of last night's run virtually gone, but the exact details keep changing for that day in every run. Sunday has a bit longer period of drizzly showers and looks like it could be a dull day but nothing more dramatic.

So, on balance, with temps notching up again, I'd say this morning is a win. Would be great to see the last of that rain weaken a bit though.

Weds: No rain, max temp stable at 21, pressure stable.

Thurs: No rain, max temp 2 degrees higher at 23, pressure stable.

Fri: Minimal amount of rain hitting 3pm-8pm. Literally not worth mentioning and will be light showers. Max temps a degree higher at 21, pressure stable.

Sat: Very odd light drizzly shower around in the afternoon, but it's barely worth mentioning.  Temps a degree higher at 20, pressure stable.

Sun: Looks like there could be a bit of drizzly rain around starting the early Sunday morning until early evening. But it's nothing to worry about. There is still a heavier band which hits the Republic of Ireland but as before, not as menacing. Still a bit of danger in that rain band that hits further north though. Max temp down a degree to 19, pressure lower again than earlier.

Another lurker glued to this thread.

Thanks everyone for all of your efforts, I feel I can read the charts with a bit more confidence now (I'm convincing myself really) and have enjoyed (at times) this rollercoaster over the past couple of weeks.

Think I can go and finish packing now.

Thanks from me too to all the weather heads on here who have done a fantastic job in giving everyone a proper eye on tbe weather. Without you guys i would be relying on woefull sensationalist articles on news outlet websites but due to this thread i have been able to get a great scope and enjoy the rollercoaster as well as pass on all the info to my friends. Its definitely looking like the outcome we were all hoping for so its time to get down to Worthy and finally smash the next 5 days in style!

Another addicted lurker here.  Just setting off for Glasto.  planning on leaving gaiters and waterproofs in the car and just taking sandals and shorts now.  Can someone get @secretglasto to tweet if the runs change significantly.  So I can get things from the carpark?

Careful, this isn't bikini weather. Boots and gaiters would be the sensible choice

My wife ups around 06:00 and goes to work around 06:45. She left me a note saying:-

"BBC Breakfast did a Glasto forecast - Thurs + Fri : largely dry. Possibility of odd shower.  - Sat + Sun : fine + dry"

I get up around 07:30.

First BBC Breakfast weather I see, talking about Saturday & Sunday

"It's Glastonbury. Rain is on its way."

Jeez, those two reports were only an hour apart!!

I'd say the weather will be a bit like Chelsea's season. League cup and League Title double is pretty damn good.

But no champions league.

But still, pretty damn good.

Yeah, but the weather and rain has a lot of history and will always be there or thereabouts. Chelsea, not so much history - you never know, they could be gone tomorrow.

Don't be this guy

I'd say make a run to the car on Thursday (this is always the best day to do it anyway) just in case
