Getting in glasto

Hi.

Me and some friends have brought tickets and two have pulled out? I have a couple that are interested in trying to get in using there tickets.

Has anyone done this or knows if there's a strong chance of getting in? We are also staying in the Campervan field so will have to go through the gates everyday! Do they check the tickets everytime you go through? A few years ago I stayed in the tangerine fields and I'm sure they gave me a pass Aswell as a wrist band to allow me through the gates without having to show my ticket every time?

Cheers!!

If you stop outside the fence you do have to go through a gate each time you go in and out.

On leaving the site they check your ticket and scan it and give you a pass out ticket to get back in. You need both parts to get back in. Each time they do check that the photo on the ticket is you, and I've been asked to take off hats, sunglasses etc to check its me!

You would need to make sure people using the tickets look very similar to those who originally brought them, and hope people checking the tickets don't look too closely at them. Have seen people asked for other photo ID too.

Might be worth the risk if you only go in once, but if you going in and out everyday there is a chance of getting caught out

Please don't abuse the ticketing system. The rules exist to help people get tickets via fair methods.

That aside, I think it's hugely unlikely that anyone would succeed going thru the gates twice a day every day without getting challenged over having the wrong ticket. At best, it'll cause you a long delay in going thru the gates; at worst the ticket will be taken from you and you won't be at the festival.

I'd say the risk is too great, and they'll end up with the tickets taken off them. If you all group together and all try in the resale and secret sales, you have a good chance of getting 2 legit tickets.

what was said above. if you're outside fence, and coming in and out over the weekend, i wouldnt chance it. they do check. if you're through the fence once and there for the weekend, you may get away with it.

at the end of the day, dont abuse the ticket system, it's a commitment.

Whats their excuse for not going, i expect to see a doctors note.... :sarcastic:

Thanks for all the advise, Keep them coming please! There excuses are very poor in my eyes! One couple have been invited to a wedding on the Friday and the other a christining on the Sunday! Really not going out my way to abuse the ticket system in fact the couple that want to try on the resale but are they won't get any as they have been unsuccessful two years in a row! Problem is the resale is after the final balance deadline so obviously they need to decide if there going to risk it or try and get tickets during the resale?

I was hoping that we could stay in the campervan field but I might blow that out and we all tent it onsite to reduce the risks by only going in once!

This will be my forth time and I have always done either tangerine fields or motorhome. What's it like camping on site and where's the best place to camp? Somewhere that's near everything but not too lively in the early hours! Also is it true that we have to be there mega early to get a good spot or else we will be left with the worst places?

Once again thanks for all your advice!

There are no "best" places, the later you get there the less chance you get of getting a spot closer to the centre. thus a pitch towards the perimeter, and more walking (that you may not want) if you to and fro to your tent.

you will struggle to avoid lively neighbours who are up all hours...you may be lucky, maybe not. if this is a concern, take earplugs.

the only place i'd avoid camping is oxylers (between other stage and dance - no peace or rest ever... especially if youre trying for a cheeky afternoon nap or struggling in your tent with a hangover) or anywhere on a slope near a toilet

The tickets can usually be refunded until mid may, so your drop out mates could pay the balance, your other mates could try in the resale and if successful your drop out mates would still get the full refund (less 15 quid)

I would like your post but I have run out of vote

I work on the gates for Oxfam and have seen quite a few people turned back to the ticket cabin

most never to return , but there are some who come back with a happy smile waving their bit of paper
