Flight to catch monday gtwick airport

Been to the fest numerous times, but this year I'd like to catch a flight to Amsterdam at gtwick airport on the Monday. I need to be at the airport by 6pm. Is this realistic? What's the best way of getting there from the site and any recommendations on when to head off?

Advice or experiences appreciated.

trainline says get the 13:09 from Castle Cary (change at Reading) arrive into Gatwick for 15:50 (£57:50).

i seen that, but have never experienced trying to catch a train on the monday, if i book on that train would i not get to the train station and have to queue? i may be amilion miles out but i had the impression you would have to q on a first come first basis for trains.

i need to be on a workers coach going to Glastonbury.

I know its do able, i just need to figure out the logistics of it so i don't miss the flight.. even if it means getting off site at 6am.

my rational is that its cheaper to fly to amsterdam then to fly to glasgow on the thursday than it is just to get the train straight back, may as well go chill in the dam for a day or two.

now you are mistaking me for a travel agent........ i am sure you can get there in 10 hours.

I'd suggest leaving as early as possible and if that means spending plenty of time in Gatwick, so be it. Not sure of the opportunity of getting a decent lounge deal while you're there to relax. Newcaslte Airport has a few lounges where you get offers for £20ish. Free food and drink, comfy seats etx.
