Lockups

I think im over thinking things again....

Yeah just sling them by the side of your sleeping bags. If they're not left out or sticking out of your porch then they'll be fine. Put your smart phone, money, cards, booze etc in the lock ups.

You'll prob only have to visit once in the morning & again mid day that way.

They guys that work at the lock ups put in some proper hours of work, kind of felt a bit of a tit going through the process of "withdrawing" some of my funds & cans from our trolley so making sure you leave a donation at the end is only fair.

Free bog roll can be a god send.

I know what you mean about the checking back in of stuff. Can you split your kit up when you book it in, so you can just check out what's needed, without having to rebook stuff in? I booked booze in daily allocations, a pain at the start, but paid off over the festival.

I don't know the correct answer but can't see any reason why they wouldn't allow this. I know a few of the people who run one of the lock ups - they are friendly and logical people so can't imagine them saying no.

sorry Yog, it was a badly phrased post, to see if couchy could divide his kit first, before checking in.

It would be fine - remembering which ticket belonged to which days stuff might be more of an issue!

They are fine with signing stuff in and out, it doesnt take long and we always tell them, so they start writing out the new ticket while we piss about with the bag.

see this was my idea with chairs, if a lock up was nearer than our tent...

I work in the lock ups - happy to answer any specific questions.

If you do lose your ticket we have a system in which we can still get your stuff so don't worry - it's just a bit of a ballache on your part as it could take a while but shit happens.

Re: putting stuff in separately - this is absolutely fine and for the best as if you just wanted to lift a few cans or money or whatever your item would be issued a new ticket anyway so doing it all at once in the beginning makes sense.

Wee word of warning, each year we have been given less and less loo roll, so get in early!

how long does it take and do you have 'busy' periods? eg - say i needed to get something from them in the evening does this take alot longer?

I'm on Pennard Hill.

If it's not busy (and it's not for phone charging) you can expect the process to be about 5-10 mins long. More if you've lost your ticket!

Traditionally 10am - 7/8pm Wed/Thursday tend to have a steady flow of people as folk get set up. Early morning or late night is always quiet. If it's raining it'll be busy.

Honestly though, don't worry about it - it's never ever that bad and we are open 24/7. 15 mins of your day for peace of mind is absolutely nothing. Have a good one!

Manchester CND have been my festival heroes the last three years. You lot are always scarily cheerful even with the obscene shifts that you seem to do. I'll no doubt see you at some point, I hope you and the other volunteers manage to see what you want at the festival and that you raise loads of money.

Thanks for looking after our stuff :)

No worries! Our shifts are actually dynamite - 4 hours a day and one night shift which passes quickly. I wouldn't do the festival any other way and I love chatting to everyone who uses the lock ups. It's all good :)

Please do say hello! I'm one of the team leaders, recognisable by the Scottish accent. Or you can just ask everyone at the lock up if they are Rottencrotch...

I think the same group run the one at the entrance to woodsies. Always happy a chirpy and always there as well, same people year on year and all during the festival!!
