Thanks - had fun pretending I was going.

Haha, same here, really wish I was - was supposed to have gone in 2020, but decided to not roll the holiday over, regretting it slightly now... Have Glasto for the first time though this year at least!

Sorry for the double post, but how would your ideal days go?

For me (with some overlaps):

Friday: The Regrettes > Still Woozy > Ari Lennox > Carly Rae Jepsen > slowthai > Lil Baby > Baby Keem > Snoh Aalegra > Louis the Child > Harry Styles

Saturday: Yard Act > Koffee > Beach Bunny/J.I.D > Conan Gray > girl in red > ANNA > Disclosure > BROCKHAMPTON/Flume > Freddie Gibbs & Madlib > Megan Thee Stallion > Isaiah Rashad > 21 Savage

Sunday: Surf Curse > Olivia O'Brian > Channel Tres > Vince Staples > Fred Again.. > Dave > Joji > Doja Cat > Jamie xx/Jessie Reyez > Swedish House Mafia x The Weekend > (maybe the end of Michael Bibi)

I was hardly being critical just stating they had issues (which we've known for months anyway). They should have just kept SHM and the Weeknd separate, i'm sure it will be cool but if they were separate then it would make way more sense. Whats also weird is they haven't bumped everyone else up later into the day to fill the gaps a bit unless theres some big surprises to come

SHM was technically a 4th headliner all along. We all assumed they were backup if somebody dropped off ( kanye ). They did see who they could get within a couple days of Kanye dropping and went via the path of least resistance which was The Weeknd. ( Tyler and Bieber were considered the frontrunners initially. Silk Sonic turned the offer down because Bruno  Mars said it wasnt possible for them to get a big show ready in under 2 weeks. ) Weeknd was going to guest with SHM anyway. So now he just had to rehearse some of his own songs outside of the SHM ones. And got 8 million for it. Odesza is there partly because the Antarctic Dome which is a 3d visual thing had some of their new music premiering at it already. But theyre djing the Do Lab for sure. Thats essentially The Glade.  They have an SMS sign up to receive  clues and updates on who is guesting on their stage. Skrillex, Disclosure, Rufus Du Sol and Major Lazer have been guests in the past. Really its just about what acts have special guests during the festival. Justin Bieber is showing up with Daniel Caesar for one. And plenty of other acts have teased guests for their sets this weekend. The Do Lab is the one stage that has surprises listed lol.

Is this a 4K live stream on YouTube?

Gosh we’ve come so far. Used to these streams being shite.

I just hope the highlights get saved, I always miss some really good stuff coz of the time difference and never get to see the ones I want.

Watching Princess Nokia... some observations:

The 'ego strip' seems off centre (and disconnected) as if it will be connected and the stage expanded later?

The crowd is remarkably small. Is this because the audience have spent too much money to turn up on time?

Coachella has always baffled me a bit. I get it is on par or at least in league with Glasto but it seems the commercial and US nature of it strips it of much of the soul and relatability that Glasto has. Fully admin there may be a culture clash but considering tickets ride into the 4-figs US and the staging always seems restricted there always seems something a bit off (that said, would go if I could afford it / get tickets)

From what people have said on here, you're only allowed to drink in certain areas. So my guess is for the first 2-3 acts most people just spend time at the bars/wondering around.

That would explain a lot including that large covered area off to the right looking out from the stage.

Have also switched to the Regrettes - much better!

Coachella is an interesting one for me, almost always has a great line-up but the crowd it attracts isn't the best it seems, as well as the whole process of attending sounding like a pain in the ass and the wallet. If I lived in California, I'd definitely be tempted to go though.

If I was attending, my weekend would look something like this:

Friday: Arooj Aftab > The Regrettes > The Chats > CRJ > Arcade Fire > IDLES > Phoebe Bridgers > King Gizzard

Saturday: Yard Act > Nilufer Yanya > Holly Humberstone > Arlo Parks > Inner Wave > Black Midi > Hot Chip > Billie Eilish

Sunday: Olivia O'Brien > Beabadoobee > Viagra Boys > Maggie Rogers > Dave > Jamie xx > SHM x The Weeknd

I'd pay great money for that Friday, strongest day by a decent margin, Sunday definitely the weakest for me. Been on a bit of a Coachella rabbit hole recently, I enjoy reading about it. I'm intrigued by the stages. Some of them e.g. a lot of the tents, look really different to what we have in the UK, they look more like a shelter than a tent in a way. I'd be interested to know why they've done that, and why we don't have them like that over here. A lot of people seem to give the attendees a pretty bad reputation, but with the line-up having some great names on, surely there's quite a few big music fans there?

Arcade Fire mentioned during their set that Coachella basically came out of Pearl Jam trying to fuck over Ticketmaster. Seems a bit ironic now it's become what it is today

Have you watched the history of Coachella thing on YouTube they did for 2020? It’s a great watch. Paul (the guy who runs the festival) has experienced it all. Talk about war stories from running a major event.

No but sounds like the kind of thing I'd be interested in, will check it out!
