Frrrraaappp head
I just wonder if the music festival websites browse the festival forums to gauge popular opinions, has the overwhelming odds of bands or acts requested actually influenced line up decisions. The reason I ask is that I just commented on the new Groove Festival thread, Groove festival looks to be the rebranded RockNess festival in Scotland, a one day dance festival to be held at Dores on Saturday 22nd August. I just noticed that the few acts announced seem to be fairly typical of a generic dance event, I thought the folk at Rockness should try at bit harder than that although with the festival called Groove it looks like Groove Armada might be curating the event in the same way that Fat Boy Slim curated Rockness. Anyway I threw in a suggestion that they should be be a bit more adventurous with the inclusion of some underground electronica acts such as Jon Hopkins, Daniel Avery, Eroll Alkin and James Holden amongst others, Edited April 13, 2015 by Frrrraaappp head
Bisque
Probably not. I doubt they even read facebook comments much, maybe twitter to answer questions. Rob Da Bank does go on his Bestival/Camp Bestival forums though.
man next door
I think they do yes. Why wouldn't they? it's a perfect opportunity to understand their market. This information is priceless, and it is free. This is very helpful in selling tickets to your event. Booking 'underground acts', however, is not. To be fair Jon Hopkins, James Holden, Daniel Avery and Aphex Twin, Squarepusher are quite well known, they just don't play EDM its more edgy than that, so probably really not Underground as such. russycarps
I wouldn't, most forum frequenters are right weirdos.
man next door
I'd suggest you should just go to a different festival, who do book acts like those you'd like to see. vote with your feet, man.
