The one day I'm actually willing to leave my PC at work I can't get home. I gave someone my car key earlier for them to move my car and they've taken it with them and left

It's a sign! Please be a sign.

If you're on that page which says it will refresh in so many seconds, but you can refresh manually, then it certainly helps.  Twice I succeeded on the browser I was pushing F5 on before the one which was just waiting to refresh.

This is also where having multiple browsers with auto-refresh pays off. Or so I'm told.

This really is very cruel all of this isn't it, life is wasting away here with a mild-medium hint of insanity nestling in

Yup. I'm slowly losing hope, but the tiny bit that remains is slowly eating away at my sanity.

Given the effort people who actually want tickets are prepared to go through - something different should be tried.  Put main sale tickets on early (e.g. 4/5am) Sunday morning and rate-limit them so that they sell steadily for 12/18 hours, only two per transaction.  I'd rather that then all going in a random 20 minute shoot out - hopefully all the good people who really want them now would already be sorted in the first marathon!

After the main sale, I was chatting to someone who saw the sticker on my car from last year.  He asked how I'd got on, to which I replied "badly".  I asked about his success - "got tickets".  I asked how - because he was part of a group (some 180-odd people), one of whom got through and back-page / forward the entire group through that one "window" once they'd got in (on the phone the whole time, I assume with card details etc).  His advice - don't do it alone.

I'd have thought that if there was a prcatical way of limiting a purchase to four tickets (or however many) rather than letting one "window" have limitless tickets that might be a start.

My brother is a senior systems analyst at a company that does traffic management systems, and I asked him how he'd handle the sort of traffic equivalent to a medium scale DoS attack, but keep the system fair. He said he'd cycle through IP addresses, which would limit the number of requests hitting the server at any one. For him it was a no brainer.

That's not to say the See do it this way of course but if they did, a range of IP addresses would be an advantage. Although to really exploit that you'd have to know how they cycled through the IPs.

Thanks, that's interesting to know, and makes perfect sense to me as a decent way of trying to manage high traffic.

I wholeheartedly agree about not doing it along and others have suggested here about clubbing together, folks from previous sales and resales would have seen that's exactly what's happened here before.

For the back button trick, every big group used to do that years ago, but most have found it blocked in the last few years.

I'm sure I've been on the forums here around ticket time a few years ago and seen such 'back doors' posted, but haven't seen anything similar the past few years (in sales for 14/15/16)
