Are the super pricey ones with accommodation coming from farms near the site? I assume GF give them tickets to sell on to soften the blow of the chaos over the next couple of weeks? This is all guess work, no evidence of this at all!

The £5k offer was from Fly Glastonbury. I emailed a few places in desperation yesterday!

If that is right then wouldn't it better just to pay them rather than giving them tickets to profit from ?

Yeah but a ticket cost the festival nothing/£250 in lost revenue. Paying them five grand is twenty times as expensive...

Ideally yeah, with the money they could have gotten from selling the few hundred returned tickets to us lot. I dont understand the prices at all, seems insane. Ive never even been on a holiday thats cost near that!

£5k is more than I spent on my 3 week honeymoon. Insane prices!

Good morning folks, I'm a bit down this morning. All this time I thought I was giving up/downvotes according to whether I liked/disliked a post? Turns out I'm just a needy bastard!:)

Anyway, the way I see it we have today and tomorrow to hope for a resale although I'm not going anywhere. Here's hoping for today...

The fact that your paying a minimum of about £600 for a bit of grass to sleep on at a farm in somerset makes it quite hilarious. Dressing up the cost of the top price with a fancy yurt, proper bed and meals included doesnt get you 5k's worth at all.

For the curious: http://www.windinglake.co.uk/home/price-calculator/

The places that offer accommodation and tickets are made sell the tickets at face value by the festival, they basically use them as bait for their pricey bell tents or whatever.

Ah thats good to know the festival dont allow inflated ticket prices from neighbouring farms.

As I understand it, as regards the hospitality tickets, there are two routes. One is the "accommodation + tickets" route. These are usually on neighbouring farms. The farmers were able to buy hospitality tickets, as anyone else meeting the criteria could in February 2017. They generally sell the tickets at face value + VAT + booking fee. Some also had access to general admission tickets. The festival only lets them resell those tickets in conjunction with accommodation. This therefore costs the festival nothing; in fact it earns a premium by selling tickets that allow buyers nothing more than a couple of short cuts, some posher portaloos, and the chance they might meet a celeb in passing. The farmers are kept happy because they get to earn some revenue, and they therefore don't kick up (as much) over the festival chaos. Bear in mind that for them, the country lanes etc they rely on have already been shut/blocked with arctic trucks for several weeks.

The other route is a grey route, where those who have hospitality tickets (friends of bands etc) use certain resellers to sell their tickets (usually for pitch your own tent in the on-site hospitality area) for a (usually very) significant markup.

I suppose it's what some people's experience is worth .  It's going to be my first time and my daughter told me to try and get into Worthy View as I'm older and on my own.  When I added up the cost of parking , ticket and a 2 man tent I was shocked .   It's a very expensive few days for me ,

I see now... it's possibly the grey route that needs revising then

A couple of my friends always stay in worthy view. They love it! Your still properly part of the festival, and the view looks amazing over the site. The decor appears to fit in with the fest too. Those other ones off site seem so disconnected and soulless, i'd hate to leave the site  every night.

Ditto. I was trying to persuade Winding Lake to sell me the tickets without the accommodation but funnily enough they weren't up for that ;)

Thank you... my daughter worries about me being on my own...not always being in the prime of health and she said that the distance from the car park to the tent will be a lot less than in general

As it's the first time away for many years you can imagine my excitement so the cost was worth it ...hopefully

The prices are ridiculous but are what the market will bear - as is borne out by so many contemplating it on here. Whilst they can get it - thats what the prices will be.

One of the downsides of a free market economy - not helped by a government that favours no regulation and little scrutiny. But we can all do our little bit to try and change that today cant we children?

I hope so.. on the downside if I absolutely love it I could be in the secret re-sale  in 2019 without a ticket contemplating buying a 2k ticket

Nah, we'll all get in first time next October!:)
