Headliners 2016

I just remembered I didn't put KofL on my list of top 5!

Dump whatever was last and promote KofL - I thought it was fucking great personally. Codex in particular is magnificent :D

Works so much better after the more tense, discordant songs that precede it.  Suddenly this space opens up.

Probably the best sequenced album they've done.

I genuinely read that as Kings of Leon until you said Codex. I thought I'd lost the plot.

Thing is, I don't believe there is a 'Glastonbury crowd' anymore.

I give you the packed audiences for James Bay, George Ezra etc. compared to the average crowd size for *insert your favourite band on the Pyramid that drew less people* - nearly everyone.

Radiohead would doubtless have as large a crowd as most of the recent headliners - Metallica, Arcade Fire, The Who - but not as large as The Stones.

Was the packed crowd for James Bay, George Ezra really that big though? Can't underestimate the difference between a packed crowd jammed together for one of the big Pyramid headliners, versus people in chairs almost up to the soundstage and beyond sometimes, with big gaps for acts in the middle of the day. Also, if its a sunny afternoon a lot of the crowd will naturally gravitate towards the Pyramid as a default with not many competing acts, especially with cider bus and lots of lunch places close by.

HAHAHAHAHA just read my first post back and it does look like that, bastard Kings of Leon having the same abbreviation as King of Limbs!

The crowd streaming away from Hozier after he finished was colossal.

As was the crowd streaming away from James Bay.

I hadn't realised that the set times were half hour behind at this stage, had planned on running from everything everything to see the last half hour of Alabama Shakes - ended up getting there smack bang when Bay finished, I genuinely felt in trouble for a few seconds.

The Bends (still think its their best set of songs)

OK Computer

In Rainbows

Kid A

The King of Limbs

Amnesiac

Hail to the Thief/Pablo Honey

Hail to the Thief joint last! The album that spawned 2+2 = 5 , There There and of my hidden faves " sail to the moon" has to be above TKOL surely?

Not made any easier by the chair brigade who seemed to have strategically positioned themselves at crucial points of exit all around the field.

Trying to get in for a decent spot for Patti was all like this

I left straight after Patti to see Alvvays in JP - They were brilliant  - old school jingly jangly indie !!!

Objectively

In Rainbows > Kid A > OK Computer > HTTT > Amnesiac > TKOL > The Bends > Pablo Honey

In Rainbows is a masterpiece and it's only going to get more widely beloved as time goes on.

King of Limbs better than The Bends? Either your opinion is invalid, or you're Jonny Greenwood.
