I'm going the New Order gig as well. Can't help sell your Roses ticket but I'm excited :D

If it is anything like their Jodrel Bank gig then you are in for a treat. It is a bit of a strange venue Castlefield but I have never been to a bad gig there. Hopefully the rain stays away and a good day is had by everyone :-)

Oh yeah I'd love a bit of sunshine!

Not been to Castlefield before but people have told me it's hard work getting drinks etc. Not that it will spoil the day like!

Just noticed this tweet from Emily, responding to that poster that was doing the rounds:

The interesting but isn't that it's fake (we knew that), but that she says the lineup is out in the next 'couple' of months.

Now does she actually mean 'couple' as in two months, so by the end of March, or does she mean it in the colloquial sense, meaning 1-4 months time? In other words, is this actually useful information?

well the next two months could be read as taking us to April, when the lineup was announced last year, so i'd say that

Not sure if it's useful information or not but it's sure got the potential to start a lengthy debate about the phrase "couple of months"!

It's clearly this. Will take us into balance payment/resale territory too.

Anyone hoping for a major announcement, apart from maybe a headliner, pre-April can keep on wishing.

No its fine on the drinks front. There are a load of smart bars on Castlefield itself to sample before you go into the venue and I have always found getting a drink inside the venue to be quite functional and easy. I would say the possibility of rain would be more of a problem than getting a beer. saying that it should be warm anyway so the rain becomes less of a hindrance.

Oh great I'll have to check out the bars nearby before the gig thank you! Any recommendations are greatly received :)

Still hoping for Kate Bush, Stone Roses and Taylor Swift.

I'm on board with this. When it doesn't come to fruition, we should cajole a DJ in one of the bars to play only tunes from each of those artists each night, get mashed and have a far better evening than anybody at the Pyramid.

Castlefield was a shite venue for Bjork. She put on an amazing show, but it's just a poor space for live music IMO.

Castlefield is pretty smart. Nothing better than mooching round Castlefield with a cold beer on a hot day :-)

I have been going to gigs at Castefield for the best part of 20 years (where has all that time gone?) and I still find it a strange place to experience music. In its defence though, the sound is always fine and there are no bad viewing spots really.

That was the first time for me, but the two plus points you mentioned were my two beefs. The sound was tinny and massively unbalanced, there were trains going past loudly (alright, there was one, but that's because it was a Sunday) and the vantage points just seemed to be shite wherever we went. There wasn't really enough space for everybody to get a decent view, and it looked as though the stage was on a backwards tilt so we didn't really see much of the orchestra. Arca was the support, he seemed to massively thin out the large crowd that had gathered before we got there, so we stood in the best place we could and held it.

The sound Issue must have been down to Bjork's engineer as I have never known any issues with it. The train thing is a bit mad especially when they slow down. As for the view thing, with me being 6 foot 3 it has never been an issue andI should take into consideration it is a bit more difficult for smaller people to get a decent view,

Best gig I've been to in a long, long time that one.  Any chances of Johnny Marr playing this year?

I'm sure the news reader off the radio X breakfast show just slipped up that coldplay are playing glastonbury  (no great suprise I know) during a competition.

Chris moyles tried to bat it away but he definitely said somthing

i'm lazy and technologically impaired but could somebody listen back to this to confirm?

What is?

The fact that coldplay are edging ever close to being announced or the sad fact I listen to chris moyles on my commute every day

well I did mean the agonisingly slow drip drip drip of information before the coupe de grace of coldplay actually being announced, but now you mention it this chris moyles confession is pretty damn unforgivable too!

I think you must have been stood in the wrong spot, I was at that gig and found the sounds pretty good and even at 5ft 5 I managed to get a really good view of the stage standing at middle centre area

in fact I was amazing by how short the majority of Bjork fans were, its the first time the random tall guy who finds me at every gig didn't turn up

the train was a bit odd though, i'll give you that, although I seem to recall 2

Arca was something else

Aye man. Coldplay being confirmed is bad enough but having to listen through Chris Moyles to hear it confirmed is even worse.
