Can you give me examples of each in song? I'm genuinely intrigued now, I've never really had Depeche Mode down as being so diverse. Certainly nowhere near the Beatles, in my eyes pretty much nobody does when it comes to variety of music within their discography.

The answer to "who has a more diverse catalogue than the Beatles?" is David Bowie. :)

Poor form to quote oneself ... but also Mike Patton has a more diverse discography than The Beatles ... although I guess it is with different groups.

There aren't many though, those Beatles chaps sure did blaze a trail deep and wide.  Bands that think they "sound like the Beatles" very very very rarely do.

I would not be shocked if he supported again. I would quite like The Whip again as well. They are a fantastic band but they seem to have fell from the face of the earth since then.

The support will come from their usual pool of Marr, Jake Evans, The Whip or Factory Floor. I would be shocked if it is anyone other than the ones I have stated. Tim Burgess will probably attempt to dj as well.

Completely agree on The Whip - in fact went on their website a few weeks ago after hearing 'secret weapon' on an old playlist and wondering if they had anything new on the horizon. They don't appear to be doing anything at the moment which is a shame....

I never mentioned who is the better frontman even though neither of them can sing. All I said was that I find Joy Division utterly depressing

I would say that Depeche Mode more so than New Order. From bubblegum pop, electro, diso, goth, grunge, rock, house, techno, they have covered it all

I think they have covered more genres. I do not think they are more ground breaking, I would like to clarify that.

Same reason I don't like Joy Division, I find the singer extremely depressing.

Hmm I think you'll find you said you found the singer of Joy Division depressing, rather than Joy Division the band.

Personally I always found a lot of beauty in Ian's voice, and a soulful honesty in his lyrics. Neither of which Barney can lay claim to. Let's not even start on Barney's dad at a wedding dancing, or his constant whooping at inappropriate moments on stage.

Also, I can't say I know much of Depeche Mode's back catalogue but Techno? House? Disco? really?

That 'article' is such a puddle of wasted jizz the only thing it's good for is mopping up it's own wasted jizz.

I find it odd that CM tells that tactless 'joke'. Isn't he a Christian?

What we need is a petition to get Coldplay banned for his tactless joke
