Adele on the Pyramid in the sub spot, just before Radiohead (a bit earlier on giving her an even bigger TV audience on the Saturday night). Makes sense to me. Keep the faith ladies and gentlemen! - Β @eFestivalsΒ what you reckon the chances of that happening are?Β

Β

Don't know whether this will go ahead or not but I do like the idea of it... granted mostly because it involves Radiohead playing, but it may take some of the 'headliner' heebie jeebies away from Adele in that she's not pressured in to bringing the Saturday to a blinding close. Although I still feel she will be the headliner. Where that leaves Radiohead I'm not sure

Can't see Adele Subbing anyone sadly. She plays, she'll headline........and I'll be elsewhere.Β

IF it were to happen I think she'd be billed as a very special guest or something similar rather than just being plonked as a sub, but yeah, obviously headlining outright is more likely

I keep thinking they could be Co headlining. A bit Al la R&L.

Don't think it's Glasto's style to go down that route at all.

And now Muse has been confirmed for Friday, I doubt it will be Radiohead now on Saturday as it will be repeat on all 3 nights. That's surely not going to happen. Adele is a shoe in now I reckon.

The BBC were hyping Dolly way more than any of theΒ headliners that year. They would do the same with Adele regardless of when she plays. Playing slightly earlier in the saturday evening would give her aΒ bigger tv audience (Saturday evening takeaway prime time), and a slightly shorter set of balladsΒ would work much better with the festival crowd.

Whether it will actually happen is another matter, but I definitely think it would work well, and suit everyone involved.

Everything I'm still hearing has Adele firmly in the headliner slot, so I don't think anything else is likely.

I still think radiohead are more likely to be in the bands who play somewhere than not, tho.

So a surprise set then? I can't see where else they would fit, they're obviously not going to play below Adele, Muse or Coldplay.Β

Yeah it's gotta be hasn't it? They're not just gonna be slotted between Blossoms and Slaves on the JP. Christ I hope this leaks early cause it'd kill me knowing I missed it

I can still see a co-headline deal happening. Adele playing a full headline slot just makes no sense to me. 2 hours is too much even for the most ardent Adele fan.Β Perhaps Radiohead play before her for the 2 hours then Adele comes on to headline but with a shorter set.

Problem with that is, now we'll all be paranoid about all the TBA's and mysterious gaps in the lineup, right through until the Monday morning after the festival!

Also, if they end up doing an unannounced thing, it means a short set, on an overcrowded stageΒ and mainly comprised of the new album.

Oh well, back to turning my attentions to West Holts- have you any nodules of info about it's headliners?

I'm not an Adele fan but what you just said is ridiculous. Hasn't her massive tour sold out where she will be playing close to 2 hour sets? I'm sure there will be a load of people thrilled to see Adele at Glastonbury. She's not a normal headline, first time headlining. Ticks all the boxes that people seem to want instead of safe headliners ala Coldplay and Muse.

Never going to be Radiohead now, Adele is nailed on.Β

I don't think it could possibly beΒ

Muse, Radiohead, Coldplay.Β

Its (now)Β the Glastonbury way to have at least oneΒ curveball headliner or somebody a bit controversial, it keeps them in the headlines and keeps the interest up, it's also about breaking down perceptions and supposed barriers. Muse, Radiohead and Coldplay are white male rock bands, Glastonbury will have gone full circle and become a parody of itself.

AdmittedIy I've not sought them out for years, but Ash's Intergalactic Sonic 7"s is one of the finest collections of beautifully crafted power-pop-rock I could hope to hear!

I maintain to this day that, in terms of writing, song construction, production and delivery,Β Burn Baby BurnΒ is a 'perfect' pop song. I'll take on any naysayersΒ to that assertion - let's be 'avin' you...!

:)

Ben

Yes Ben. Ash are brilliant. 1977 was the first album I ever bought, I was about 9, still utterly love it. I chose them over Arcade Fire at Leeds festival 2010 and it'd do it again! I've long asserted that Intergalactic Sonic 7"s is the greatest greatest hits of any band. Simon & Garfunkel would pip it to the post, but for the bonus disc where they cover the cantina band (as the are popularly known, everybody who knows their shit knows they are called Figrin D'an & The Modal Nodes)Β song from Star Wars.

Agreed. I can't see Adele having her set cut short. IF (and they won't) do anything wacky, it would be to give her a headline length sub slot, not the other way round.

I can't get my head round why Adele herself - since she knows (and gets?) the festival -Β thinks a 90 minute headline slot will be a massive smash. She's not daft.

It just makes no sense to me.

I just can't get my head around why Radiohead themselves - since they know (and get?) the festival - would think a 90 minute headline slot mainly consistent of 21st century material would be a massive smash. They're not daft.

Them not headlining ever again makes sense to me.

I agree she is the biggest potential headliner in the world currently, and the biggest coup for the festival since U2. Just not particularly festival forum friendly

I was sat at my desk at work ( as I am now ) when it flashed up that U2 were confirmed to play Glasto.Β  Nothing festival related Β will ever shock or surprise me more.Β  I covered my pc and screen in coffee as I tried to prevent myself from choking to death .

I have to say that Muse and Coldplay are very poor bookings - the only saving grace is we prob won't see em again at Glastonbury .Β  I have no issue with either band but they have headlined enough already !

Glasto won't book Muse, Radiohead and Coldplay. Radiohead were a big inspiration for both of them, I can see it moreso for Coldplay early on and a little Muse but they have been way more base and riff heavy on the guitars. Β Matt certainly went through Thom York type vocal with his own output though.

Whoa, easy tiger. No need to go quoting my own post back at me, dude.

It wasn't a pop at Adele. Nor a clarion call for Radiohead (they will tour, I will go see them).

It was an expression of genuine befuddlement that she'd *want* to play that headline slot (given what we [think we] know about her).
