Eh? I'm not. Did he sub anywhere in the UK this year? Nope.

He's obviously not wanting to be below anyone on lineups anymore. For some people headlining Latitude is better than second down below Mumford and Sons at Reading and Leeds.

No he didn't but do you really think T would have chosen him over Muse or Foos if they were available?, given that T will probably miss out on Foos next year too.

If he was that adamant he was major festival headliner and that's it then he wouldn't have taken a slot that clearly is lower whether he headlined it or not.

To be fair, them being offered to sub this year was all a bit last minute, I couldn't blame them for not taking it, they were deeply in the process of realising their album, so it made sense for them to knock it back

Not everyone would have said The Libertines were a sub act, they could arguably have headlined, given the circumstances they happened to sub

It was and I'm on about them knocking it back, I'm saying if the festival saw them as only headers now they wouldn't have got the offer as they'd be looking at them to top 2016, I don't think Glastonbury would see The Libertines as outright header and to be fair they aren't, regardless of whether Reading gave them it or not, they just don't have what's needed. Sub is fine, it's too big above.

I'd guess Foo Fighters, Adele and Fleetwood Mac now.. With the possibility that Fleetwood Mac would fall through and someone like Biffy Clyro will be called.

I'm edging towards from Neils comments, Biffy Clyro and FM. I can't put my finger on a last one. I'm unsure what the likeness of one of headers turning round and saying to them have Foos next year and we'll come back do it the following before the fallow.

If they got them three I don't think anyone can beat them next year, if you replace Adele with Biffy I still think it's very hard. I'm just not sure on Adele as yet.

Coldplay is an option but I think IOW/T will get them. It's pretty much 6 years minimum between a header returning minimum, even Coldplay was that last time.

Are you actually bonkers with Foals would only headline Glastonbury now?. I know I'm not a fan but come on.

well they're obviously gonna headline Reading and Leeds first next year, but come the next album, Glastonbury headliner for sure (if it doesn't fall on the fallow year, which it probably will). i may have not been a huge fan of the new album, but most others seem to be, and they just seem destined to get that bump up and then stay as headliners for the foreseeable future

Very much not in favour of the fallow year moving to 2018 given it makes Foals headlining in the next few years unlikely and Ed Sheeran headlining on his next album more likely.

About Emily saying it's all booked for next year ruling Foo's out and that while Michael has told porkies Emily never has.

So you're saying on the next album Glasto headliner for sure now but before it was Glasto header anyway? We'll see, I'm not so sure, I think it's a sad state of affairs if they don't have any other options and that's exactly what their booking next year would be, a case of no other options. They aren't big enough, they don't even have a no.1 album with this latest release and to not even make it to number 2.

Haha Ed's a lock for 17 isn't he lol.

i'm saying they could 100% headline Glastonbury in 2016 off the back of this album, but Reading/Leeds will snatch em up. as for the album charting, whilst yes it is unusual for 'new' (not well established) acts to headline festivals without a number one album (although i'm sure there are many exceptions), i don't think it'll matter - they've earned that headline spot at Reading, and if the timings work out then they will've definitely earned that Glastonbury headline spot in a couple of years

Radiohead saying they aim to finish their album this Autumn, so should be out before the next festival. Them headlining next year is the dream for me, praying that it happens!

it just has to be their turn next year. has to be. new album and a shiny new Bond theme tune (that never got debunked, did it?) in tow, if that album's out and they don't play i'm gonna kick the fuck off

In rainbows on the pyramid would be intense. It'll be interesting to see what direction they'll go in next. I'm wondering if it will be more orchestral in sound after Jonny's recent work.

Obviously it's very hard to predict what a band like Radiohead will do next, all I could say is that I think they'll put out something a little more accessible than TKOL was. I also think they might want to go out of their way to make it a 'big' album, as great as TKOL was it did seem a little throwaway,

whilst i love TKOL, i hope the next one is a total move away from what they've been doing (TKOL didn't sound very adventurous by Radiohead's standards). it'll obviously be great whatever they do, but obviously after they released one of their best albums yet in In Rainbows, TKOL seemed like a bit of a step back, so i want two steps forward this time (or for them to just say 'fuck it' and release an album of Creep-esque bangers)

As much as I love their post-90's stuff, I've been waiting so long for this

when TKOL was announced me and my friend had a huge discussion about how we thought that's what the album was gonna sound like, and then were both massively disappointed when it sounded the way it did. probably never gonna happen, but would probably be the most unexpected move they could make these days

I'd rather they gave me something unlike their old music even if it's not quite as good. If they weren't always moving forwards, they'd never have recorded In Rainbows.

Those last three songs on TKOL are sublime. Better than anything* on OK Computer.

*other than Let Down, obvs.

i know we're all getting excited about the return and possibility of Radiohead headlining, but don't say silly things you can't take back!

What, like Let Down is better than the last three songs on TKOL?

Come on, what beats that combo on OK Computer? Don't try saying No Surprises, Karma Police or Paranoid Android, because they don't.

And Electioneering is pants.

Let Down, Lucky and The Tourist for me (although that was a lot harder than i thought - OK Computer is definitely an album that works best all at once rather than individual tracks. the three i listed are the only ones i ever listen to individually)
